I've got a problem I need to bitch about [v4]

My truck broke down... My left front brake seized and I drove on it long enough that it started to smoke really badly. I only just got home after having my truck towed the last two miles home.

I know that I'll have to replace my left front caliper (the thing that squeezes your brake pads to slow your vehicle) as that's the problem. It's likely that my pads are going to have to be replaced too. Hopefully my rotor hasn't been damaged by the heat. Rotors on this vintage of truck are a pain to replace because you have to disassemble the wheel bearing and repack it with grease, a messy procedure that is easily my least favorite job.

I guess the worst part about all of this is that I don't really have that much time to repair it...

Yikes.... I hope everything works out and it's not too expensive...

Revised estimate is now roughly $150-$200. My brake rotor and therefore my wheel bearing have turned blue, a sign of heat damage. Some on the internet say I can reuse rotors like this, so I probably will after a bit closer examination. My brake pads look alright for what they have been through, so I don't need to replace those yet.

As for the culprit... well it's either a stuck slide (calipers are supposed to slide back and forth), a stuck caliper piston, or a brake hose that has collapsed in on itself. I need to do more research to determine the cause for certain since I'm on a very limited budget, so I can't just simply buy a bunch of parts and throw them on.

My iPod is at my partner's house because I accidentally left it in his car, and I thus have no access to the internet except through a laptop, which is a rarity for me.

i want to record today, I really do, but don't know if I can't with the recent news, but I feel I should still record or else I'm not following the philosophy Iwata had and then being disrespectful, but I'm still in shock but then...ugh, I just don't know what I feel yet...

I know you didn't ask for advice...but well, I feel compelled to give it in this scenario. So I shall.

I think Iwata would have wanted you to do whatever it is that would make you have fun since that was the point of video games, according to him. So, if recording just drains you, I don't think you should since it seems that may most likely make you feel worse. Grieving isn't a negative thing necessarily, and if you need a day or two to collect yourself and appreciate Iwata, I think it's fine to postpone recording.

I don't think a better thing could've been said for this situation.
