I didn't mean to, but that's funny!
Eh, I usually start with my least favorite thing when I'm doing things.

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
WARNING, THE FOLLOWING LP PART HAS 76 LARGE IMAGES
- Scottish Tour Part 1:
Welcome to my yard!
This is the same yard the last scenario ended at.
From left to right the engines are
F7 #53804
'Jinty' #47546
King #6023 "King Edward II"
Black 5 #44917
A1 #60163 "Tornado"
We'll start things off with some shunting with the Jinty.
This lovely little tank engine is a workhorse that survived well into the late days of steam in the UK. While this looks like Thomas, Thomas is a different type of engine, none of which were preserved. However at least one Jinty has been made to look like Thomas. Jintys carry 2.20 tons of coal and 1,200 gallons of water. The Jinty comes in a varity of liveries and in a HUD and Advanced drive version. Also you can quell the whistle.
After pulling forward onto the mainline, I can back up into the spot where I keep my coaches. This are the same coaches used on the Settle and Carlisle. This route comes with weather coaches and I'm not fond of weathered coaches. Or weathered anything for that matter.
Whoops, I meant to go in the other siding to get the first class coaches.
I can have a train 13 carriages long but the Black 5 is not as strong as the King or A1 so I'll put 6 together.
2 First Class
3 Second Class
And the Guard's carriage.
as I back up into Platform 2 you can see my goods yard.
I'll leave these here while I get the Black 5.
We've got to move Tornado out of the way first.
Oh dear..... Tornado bucked when I coupled her.
Phew, the frogs fixed her.
Tornado shall set over next to the diesel pumps.
And now we put the Jinty away.
Here should do.
Time to go!
*The Touch begins playing on my IPod*
12:56
Slowly acceralating as we're past the yard. We're on a hill.
*Caramell Dansion starts playing*
13:00
Now we're at the top and ShadowBeats' One More Night is playing.
13:03
View distance is fine now but I need to reduce the scenary density as I get lag spikes pretty often as things load.
13:04
Castle Kennedy
This is not a local so I won't be stopping. 30 mph
13:06
Dunragit
13:10 44 mph
And off we go into uncharted terrority.
13:12 43 mph
This is supposed to be a viaduct..... Oh well.
13:14
Glenluce. Note the Catch points to the right. Also there is water here. I've used about 500 gallons of my 4000 gallon supply and I should be fine.
13:15
I'm not really doing all that well on these hills. Tornado would be taking these with ease.
*is stalling out on the hill as my injectors are on*
I want Tornado
After a long climb and speedy descent, we're here at Kirkcowan.
13:32
I'm speeding and I've got to slow to 40 mph.
Newton Stewart appears to be a major station on the line. It even has a turntable.
13:41
What is this dump?
13:45
This viaduct spawned properly.
13:47
Abandoned station
13:48
I just heard a rooster.
Also I've used 1,200 gallons of water and 0.97 tons of coal.
13:53
This is Creetown.
13:56
This train is just a little too heavy.
14:01
I just checked the other end of the line and it goes all the way to Settle Junction with a massive yard facility. Or rather yards. In other words, this line goes all the way to Carisle and partilly onto the modern day Settle and Carlisle. Far more extisive than I thought.
We're at.... Gatehouse of the Fleet?
*the descent begins again*
*sees the descent is much steeper than the ascent*
14:19
Partically spawned viaduct.
14:22
Almost at a standstill
14:25
Clearly this scenario needs more locomotives to make it up the hils. But that aside, this is my dream route and I'm highly impressed by it.
Little Water of the Fleet Viaduct
*is listening to Theory of a Deadman's Not Meant To Be*
14:35
Welcome to Loch Skerrow
What is this?
14:47
Loch Ken Viaduct
Crossmichael
14:53
Castle Douglas.
15:00
Dalbeattie
15:07
So why is this here?
Southwick
15:11
Kirkgunzeon
15:15
I have 1,000 gallons of water left.
Killywhan
Lochanhead
I'll be able to take on water at Dumfries. But I have to make it there.
15:23
Maxwelltown
Entering the Yard now. I wasn't able to figure out a path to platform 3 so I have to pick up water on a dead end platform.
Will I have to fuss around with you?
Nope :D
15:37
It's time to go.
15:39
Racks.
15:52
These coaches must be really heavy.
Or I've got too many fat people on board. I climbed Cajon Pass with this locomotive and 8 carriages.
Ruthwell
15:58
Cummertrees. Wait whut.
*double checks the name*
Well I'll be damned.
16:04
Come to think of it, Railworks doesn't have very many British freight locomotives. And even fewer American locomotives.
Annan
16:08
Gretna Green. We're not too far from Carlisle now, though we've still got a ways to go.
Welcome to England!
16:22
90 mph speed limit, but I don't have the steam....
We're almost at Carlisle, but my frame rate is rather low due to all the yards.
16:38
I'm going to get turned around, somehow. Then come back to these and head back to my humble little yard that doesn't lag me out. Right now to save space I'm considering doing that trip without taking screenshots.
I wouldn't expect you guys to find this familar, but this is the modern day track to Settle.
Hopefully I can do this without derailing....
16:51
Or she could refuse to turn at all.
*inches forward a little bit*
There we go!
Excellent!
Now we need to run back to the coaches.
To think all of this was ripped up.... Well most of it. I may make a special version of this with almost all of this also ripped up. I need only two yards, and certainly not a yard this big.
*thinks about it for a little bit*
I actually only need my humble little yard that's currently my base of operations and the turntable and freight loaders here at Carlisle.
I can't couple! I'll run back around to the front and try to couple there. If I can couple there, I'll run back to the turntable and then take the train to the yard's wye.
I think my coupling is broken....
I'll run back to my yard (without taking screenshots along the way) and get either the King or Tornado.
You can suggest which I use to retrieve my train while I run back to the shed.
*leaves Carlisle at around 17:50*

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Scottish Tour Part 2:
The black 5 bucks alot at 87.1 mph. I should get back before nightfall.
Taking on water at Dumfries.
*departs Dumfries at 18:25*
Another reason to like this game, the water textures.
Finally here!
I've burned 4.1 tons of coal and refilled my tender twice.
20:02
I just remembered my tender coupling is busted
*grumbles over to the turntable*
Too big to go inside the shop so I'll leave you outside.
WHERE DID YOU GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW THE HELL DID YOU END UP ALL THE WAY OVER THERE
The hand brake is stuck so I had to shove until it broke. Of course now I have to figure out what to do with this piece of garbage.
Someone, somewhere is going to yell "TRAIN SEX"
Hmm..... Tornado has less coal and water than she should.
Since nobody has suggested, Tornado will be used. It's 3:57 PM EDT real time.
7.50 tons of coal.
And good grief she was thristy, taking on around 4,000 gallons for a total of 6200 gallons. The other engines must be out of water....
It's now 20:40 and we need to rescue those passengers.
OH MY GOD, BOTH WHISTLES ARE ACTUALLY MODELED
It's tied to the button that normally activates the bell, B. It's not momentary like the A4 whistle and I don't like it as much as the A4 whistle, but the fact it's modeled is absolutely wonderful and I'm now seriously considering getting the Tornado add-on.
21:16
Double the speed limit! 80 mph!
*throws the safe driver bonus check out the window and pushes Tornado to her limits*
I don't have to refuel here at Dumfries, I have 4,636 gallons
Around 21:55
Why doesn't my star flower light up?
*overruns the end of the track at the turntable and Tornado flips up into the air and does 2 or 3 flips*
Well that was amazing....
Let's see
Class 3F 0-6-0T Jinty 00:56:26
Black 5 07:23:26
LNER A1 60163 Tornado 1:55:30
Total Distance Travelled: 334.26 miles.
I'd say that's a record, for longest play session in terms of miles and time. Plus I discovered that Tornado can reach 101 mph running light down a hill and 98 mph on level track.
*has downloaded something special*

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Station Pilot:
- Slow Freight:
Partically fitted means only some of the cars have brakes, namely the flatbeds directly behind me.
also this train is only partly loaded.
Onto the main line
I wonder what happens if I exceed that.
50.5 mph
I have a small little pop up in the corner that says
Fireman: The speed limit for this train is 50 mph, please slow down.
I NEED TO STOP!!!!!!!!!
I was totally not paying attention and I overshot by a lot
I NEED TO BACK UP
There's the train.
And he's stopped ._.
Finally I can go.
If you say so....
Gotta turn off soon.
TOO FAST
I've got to lose 25 mph in .44 miles
One of the many yards I would rip up.
*makes to the end of the yard, then gets a game over error*
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT, I FORGOT ALL ABOUT MY WATER.
...
So 5% is when the game ends.
Let's try it again.
.....
I can see where this is going.....
Much better this time.
If nothing else, these locomotives have good visibilty.
WHEELSLIP!!!!
*closes the throttle and applies sand to stop the slip*
I didn't get that last time. Also wheelslip can be extremely bad, as this video shows- Spoiler:
- Addintional Information and Aftermath:
The accident was caused by the overfilling of the boiler after an unscheduled stop at Durham. On the viaduct, the train began to slip and the slip was poorly controlled by the driver, who then reopened the regulator too early, probably worried about stalling on the bank up to Relly Mill. The force of the initial slip caused the boiler to prime, carrying water over into the regulator valve and jamming it open. This allowed passage of steam through to the cylinders, perpetuating the slip and accelerating the driving wheels and catapulting the locomotive into history. Repairs took 18 months.
This is where I lost the game last session. My boiler level is at a good level right now so I should be fine.
I feel like they're keeping me off the mainline on purpose.
Now we am I going?
Kingmoor NBR Up Connecting.
Hey you two! Keep it clean!
There's Carlisle.
*knows the switch is set against me and slams on the brakes*
Ah, that's why.
Finally.
Okay what now?
ah, okay
I'm in the wrong siding
Slippy!
*is really enjoying spinning my wheels*
Finished.

I've now got quite a bit of DLC, including some more passenger cars I downloaded last night in addition to the G-TraX cars I had to redownload.

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Border Raider:
So we're on the head end.
And we have a lightly weathered engine
Oh well... That and things are laggy.
After another train passed, we're good to go.
Let's race!
Or not, since he has to stop
Frame rate is steadily getting better.
Apporaching Gretna Junction
And now this is where things get tricky... Gretna Green is in .6 miles...
These signals are so confusing.
5.03 miles.
Good stop.
3.02 miles
Don't need water.
3.33 miles
Is that right?
3.5 miles
4.68 miles
3.95 miles
A snowplow?!
/
Finally done.

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Coal to Carlisle:
Two brake vans?
We can go as soon as my brakes release.
For a second, I thought I was passing a signal at Danger. I'm not, UK signals turn red the moment you reach them
Actually, it looks like it really was set at Danger.
Already done.
Is that so?
This is going to take a while...
Here in America we coal trains like this on the fly, while they slowly pass by coal is just dumped into the cars.
Done.
We're going to run tender first aren't we....
I'm sure there's a better way of doing this.
Why am I not taking this.
You speak as if I lost them.
*pissed girl face*
*bangs the trucks extremely hard*
*still in a pissy mood*
This bridge is too low.
*speeds up because my pissy mood says I must*
*becomes pissier still as the lag begins*
*does so*
*refuses*
*almost ran off the rails because of my pissy mood*
*bumps these too, but much too hard and they derail*
*is still highly pissed off*
*considers doing coal runs from Carlisle from the docks to the
*notices something*
Is my brakevan uncoupled?
*is now finished*- current DLC wish list:

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Supplies:
*is in a slighter better mood because of NobodyEpic's videos*
Also note the little text box, the top one telling me that the locomotive won't react instantly, in other words, realistic play with this type of locomotive. The second is legacy driving, or the type of driving I've been doing, instant response.
This doesn't look like that heavy of a train, especially since we're supposed to be carrying war supplies. Come to think of it, this is not a realistic scenario because BR was formed after WWII
Time to go.
Set.
I KNOW I'M SPEEDING, SHUT THE FUCK UP
The fuck.... I'm rocking back and forth...
Stopped early... is the handbrake on?
Let me pull up!
Here will do.
so this isn't my train
I've gotta load it *cries adorably*
The animation is really cool
This is a really smooth animation
I think I've set them right.
*checks*
I think we're good to go.
WYE!
I don't remember this....
This is part of the line I hadn't been on.
Back in Scotland and 6.44 miles from Eastriggs Loop
*cries because I thought that because this train is fully braked, I could excced 50 mph*
Backing up.
WHY CAN'T I PARK THE DAMN THING HERE
I can go to bed now?

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Gone Fishing:
So we need to take the catch over to Carlisle.
60 is better than 50....
It's 4:08....
*turns around and looks down*
Quit tailgating you assholes!
HOLY SHIT, I ONLY HAVE 977 GALLONS OF WATER LEFT
*starts looking for the nearest water standpipe*
I'm supposed to pick up water from Dumfries.
Oh fuck the old guard, I shouldn't have to stop for a new guard.
*departs straight away*
Why can't one of my Ministra be my guard?
The 5th animated Thomas and Friends movie is set to be released next month and features a lot of new characters, including two streamlined American steam locomotives. I say American because the New York Central had several streamlined Hudson locomotives that look like two of the characters.- Spoiler:
Oh shut up!
*a split second later*
WAIT WHAT
WOW.
This can't end well....
*cannot show pictures of the collisions...*
Please excuse the smell of fish.
It's a little late now....
*cries at the controls over the death of the cows*
*is using the hill to pick up speed*
Almost at Dumfries and just 1 mile from water.
Shut up asshole, I already know that.
I wanna go faster! D: These fish are stinky
That's a long train.
It's now 5:09 in the morning.
We're not too far from Dumfries. And I still haven't figured out what the ideal fire mass is for this locomotive. At least I can be as careless as I want with my water.
*7 minutes later*
I think the ideal fire mass is around 60%
Water here at Annan, which I won't be needing.
Is that the sun?
Changing tracks.
What?
Oh these guys
Another snow plow.
Crossing the border at 5:35
*cuts throttle*
Dangeriously riding on the side like a boss
I still don't get why we need to do this.
Just about every American yard is bigger than this.
Too many scenary objects again. I discovered that sheds and other things are affected so I really have to make a choice....
Finished and I don't give a damn that I'm illegally parked.
- Chasing Yellows:
I've lost count of how many times I've tried to do this scenario. But I must try it again before I can deem my problems fixed.
30.87 miles to Twyford. Time is 18:06:30
100 mph, here we come!
18:10 28.70 miles
90 mph right now and we can now go 125. To break the speed limit here with a steam locomotive is to match Mallard's record of 126 mph.
I always forget to keep track of when I leave the electricified part. Also 125 mph is looking pretty good.
ALMOST MISSED THE ALERTER
18:19 13.09 Miles to go
This train has been a workhorse for the UK for many yea-
DAMMIT, MISSED IT
Urgh, 6.32 miles to go....
I like how fast the brakes respond. That said, that doesn't mean she'll stop very quickly, even the E-Brakes take a while to stop this train.
HURRY UP YOU BASTARDS, I'M LATE
There's not much I can do since the E-brakes went off on the way here. Reading is in a little under 5 miles.
Hello Reading.
That finally finishes the scenario.

Re: Railworks 4: End of the Line
- Ice Cream Man:
And so begins a 3 part scenario
With a snowplow equiped locomotive.
Um, where am I supposed to go again?
*checks my screenshots*
I think I'm going the right way.
Stopping here at the depot entry.
Okay.
Though it does lower framerate...
It's 7:11 in the morning
For a locomotive that can't climb hills, she's still a really good hauler on flat ground.
Good. Almost done here.
At least I know that the line has been cleared.
time to run around.
Alright.
Was it really esscary to back up this far?
Okay.
I think this scenario is almost done.
*checks the task list*
Actually no, it's not.
I forgot the reverser and burned up a lot of water and steam...
3.86 miles till Dalbeattie.
...and if you look to your left Ladies and Gentleman, you will see a lorry trying to rape a small car.
Turning your now dirty attention back to the front, we've just arrived in Dalbeattie.
As cool as it is to see a train leap into the air and flip about, it'll fail the scenario...
This should be close enough.
I suppose they're going to load the waggons?
This locomotive has 8.67 tons of coal and 3,370 gallons of water left. If the next scenario is to be a realistic one, the locomotive should have similar levels.
And of course I have full tanks.
I'm surprised he was able to make it up the grades. Then again I don't know where he's from
Hopefully this train doesn't give me too much trouble.
Bad bump right there.
It's 8:35
It's snowing now. And despite that, I'm getting pretty good framerate when I hang around the brakevan.
I didn't know I would be changing tracks.
Seems clear to me.
Damn roosters.
8:53
Now he says something as I'm about to break the 60 mph speed limit. Since I'm not shunting, I'm using the realistic driving mode, which delays throttle changes.
I need a Chirstmas song now.
We passed before I stopped.
Newton Stewartt is in 12 miles.
I don't need water.
Newton Stewart is in 2.09 miles.
I wonder if I'll be leaving these here.
How professional.
Nothing in front of me now...
Never mind, this asshole is busy shunting.
Now I can move forward.
What....
*checks the signal*
Danger....
Ready to go. 6.31 miles to my first way point, Kirkcowan Platform 1
Ah yeah!
*opens the throttle wide and leaves them in the dust*
I believe I've found the problem. This engine is realitivily clean and also missing a snowplow.
*is going to shower them in snow*
Wait, it's over already?
At least she still gets to run with me.... but she doesn't need refueling, I can dead head back to Dumfries right now, if the switches would let me.
PULL UP YOU ASSHOLE
*watches as he pulls up too hard and then stalls*
*the plane then falls out of the sky and smashes into the ground*
Not my problem.
*steams away*
I just noticed I failed to stop twice. I probably have failed the scenario....
Well? Did I fail?
Yup. Dammit.
*stabs myself in the chest and waits for myself to bleed to death*
I think I'm the only one whose has managed to upload a part nearly every day.
