Which Starter Pokémon should I choose (even though I'll probably go with Charmander)?
Re: Let's Play Pokémon Fire Red! Canceled due to screenshot issues...
Part 15 is going to be just a brief part about exploring the Pokémon Tower, so let's get started:
- Spoiler:
- I start off in front of the tower, then head in.
Pokémon Tower soundtrack.
Gotta say, out of all the soundtracks in this game, this one is one of the more interesting ones.
Something else that's interesting, when I went to get my screenshots, I found out that they've been organized (including the ones I just took) from latest to first! If they stay that way, then it'll make things much easier for me when trying to post these! :D
Anyway, back to the LP: I'm now in the tower. First floor just has people mourning their dead Pokémon... So sad....
On the second floor, I run into Blue:
Asks me if my Pokémon are dead...
When he finds out they aren't, he says that he'll faint them at least...
He doesn't. I faint his! :D
Of note, he has made a couple of changes to his team by getting rid of his Raticate and adding a Growlithe and Exeggcute, giving him a grand total of 5 Pokémon.
After beating Blue, I move on to the third floor. This floor has a bunch of Channeler trainers (as well as the other floors). All of them have Gastly (one has a Haunter up on a higher floor).
I find an Escape Rope, then come across a wild....
Ghost?!?!- Spoiler:
ZOINKS!!!
So yeah, this place is haunted....
I try to battle it, but Charmelion is too scared to do anything:
Then it starts getting creepier...
You don't have to tell me twice!- Spoiler:
So yeah, the only thing to do is run from them (although, I did forget to try a Pokéball on them, but I doubt they can be caught). Apparently, I need a Silph Scope to see the actual Pokémon that they are (they sound like Gastly mostly, with the occasional Cubone and one Marowak coming up shortly).
For now, I use my only Repel to keep them away.
I battle more Channelers and get Charmelion to level 30 (he and Pikachu are about the only ones that have moves good enough to take on the Ghost Type Pokémon these trainers have).
I run into (and beat) a Channeler named Carly:
I then notice that the Channelers look slightly similar to Carly from Yugioh 5Ds:
Okay, maybe not as much as I originally thought, but anyway, moving on!
After more battling, I get Pikachu to level 29, then find a few items lying around on the floor I'm on (an Elixer, Great Ball, and Awakening). Then my Repel wears off.... So yeah, more ghosts everywhere......
Along with all the ghosts, the Channelers are getting creepier and creepier, saying things like 'Give me blood' or 'Join us....'
I then come across an interesting sight:
Wanting the item in the middle (because I'm so greedy ), I step into the ring:
Awesome!
So apparently, this ring is here because of this Channeler:
The item in the middle was a Cleanse Tag.
I get Pikachu to level 30, then find an X Accuracy. After a few more battles, Charmelion gets to level 31.
I then find a Rare Candy and decide to give it to Charmelion, bringing his level up to 32.
I then come to another staircase, but, when I try to go up....- Spoiler:
Turns out, it's another 'ghost.' It sounds like a Marowak (which will come in handy for my Pokédex later) and it's at level 30. Unable to do anything, I just run again. Trying to go back up the stairs does the same thing...
So it looks like I won't be doing anymore exploring until I get a Silph Scope...
I decide to just leave right away since there's nothing else to do. I use an Escape Rope so I don't have to deal with more 'ghosts.'
I then head back to the Pokémon Center to heal up, then decide to take a break.
Next time, I believe I'll be looking for a Silph Scope, which should be in Saffron City (hopefully, the road is open when I go back there). So until next time, see ya!

Here's part 16! Again, kinda brief (mainly some training), but anyway, let's get started:
- Spoiler:
- I start off from Lavender Town and head south to train a bit more. Along the way south, there's another lookout like the one I came across earlier in the game. At the top of it is a girl who gives me Return:
I then come to the fishing area around here. Quite a few fishermen here, so I should be able to train Gloom a bit!
I eventually get Gloom to level 29, then after rotating Nidorino to the front for a bit, get him to level 29.
More fishermen and Gloom gets to level 30. I then come across a young couple and have my first double battle in the game:
The battle ends up being a one sided match on my side, and I take the win.
I then come to the end of the road for now because of that same Snorlax I saw earlier...
I then head back to Lavender Town and heal up before heading out west.
More trainers out here, and I get Nidorino to level 30 and Primeape to level 29.
I run into twins and have another double battle. Later, Primeape gets to level 30 and Charmelion to 33.
I check out the grassy area in the middle of this route and find three hidden berries in the grass (Leppa, Lum, and Rawst).
I then find the entrance to another Underground Path:
I get in a few more battles before heading down the path, getting both Primeape and Nidorino to level 31, then start off underground towards Celadon City.
Eventually, I come to the other side of the Underground Path:
I find a hidden Wepear berry close by, then briefly level grind Pikachu to level 31 in the grass further up.
I then head into Celadon City and heal up.
My current team:
I still need to find a good water type, but I'll have to wait until I find a better fishing rod...
And so, that concludes this part. Next time, I'll be exploring Celadon. Until then, see ya!

Maybe.... It would be easier now that there's stronger trainers and wild Pokémon around.

Time for Part 17!
This time, I'm exploring Celadon City and burning down the gym!
So anyway, let's get started:
This time, I'm exploring Celadon City and burning down the gym!
So anyway, let's get started:
- Spoiler:
- I start off from the Pokémon Center and start exploring the city. Immediately after leaving the Center, I run into a Team Rocket Grunt:
He doesn't battle me, so I move on. I head to the area behind the Pokémon Center that leads to that back entrance to the Celadon Mansion. I find an Ether, then head towards the mansion roof. When I arrive, I find a small building (I guess you'd call it that):- Spoiler:
Inside the room/building/whatever is a Pokéball on a table. Going over, I find that it's an Eevee:
Wooo! Free Eevee! :D
The Eevee gets transferred to Bill's PC, and I check out the rest of the room.
The guy in the room just says he know everything about different game features or something like that (basically more blah blah blah/a lot of boring stuff...). The other things in the room also explain stuff I don't really care about, so I decide to leave and go check out my new Eevee at the Pokémon Center:
It has a Calm Nature (Special Defense +/Attack -). Not bad, so I decide to hang onto it (bye bye Dugtrio). If I can find a Water Stone, I have my water type! :D
I then go back to exploring the city. I find a guy who has a Poliwrath:
Got an extra one on ya by any chance? No? Oh well....
Moving on, I check out the rest of the Celadon Mansion:
Inside on the first floor, there's a woman with a bunch of Pokémon, including a Clefairy:
Ummmmm..... It sounds like she needs to......... *the Clefairy pees on my leg*
Pee............ Great......
After cleaning off my pants, I talk to the lady. She gives me Tea:
Yay.... Tea.....
Well, I am kinda thirsty, so I try to drink it:
.................... Oooooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay........ (if I remember correctly from something I read once, I think there's someone who likes tea (Professor Oak?) in the game that I can trade this for a cool something)
Moving on to the next floor, I find a couch:
Comfy! (I actually miss this little feature since the newer games don't let you sit in chairs like this)
The second floor has the Game Freak Meeting Room and apparently, there's no meeting since there's nobody on this floor.
Onto the third floor, where the Game Freak guys are. Basically just say stuff like "I drew you!" and stuff like that. There's also a guy that hands out the reward for completing the Pokédex here (which I'm not going to come close to doing).
I then head to the roof, but find that there's nothing on this side of it, so I head back down.
I then head to the Department Store:
Time to go shopping! :D
First floor is just the reception counter. Second floor has a few TMs for sale, but none of them interest me. There's also a few items like Super Potions and Great Balls being sold by another clerk. I buy a few Antidotes since that's about all I need, then head to the third floor.
On the third floor is a move tutor that teaches Counter:
Once again, it's one time only...
There's also a few Super NES systems on this floor with different games, including:
So Red does have a dad. How about that.
Next floor has a few items for sale that interest me greatly:
Evolution Stones! :D
I buy one of each (although I don't think I'll need the Fire Stone anytime soon), then head to the next floor, which just has the X Stat items and stat booster items (like Calcium and Iron). I head to the roof, buy a few drinks, then head back down via the elevator:
...... The elevator shakes me up..... Quite a bit........ And it was fast..... In getting down to the first...... Floor...... *hurls*
After puking my guts out, I leave (they can clean the mess :I).
I then come to the Game Corner:
Might as well head on in and see what's up.
Unfortunately, since I don't have a Coin Case, I can't play... D:
I run into a grunt by a poster. He quickly battles me to protect the poster:
Eevee gets his first battles in and takes care of the grunt's Pokémon. The grunt then runs off to warn his boss. To do this, he..... Walks through a wall? O_O (sorry, didn't get a screenshot of it)
With no grunt around anymore, I decide check out the poster to see what's so special about it:
Never could resist a button! *pushes it*
*click*
Ah, so that's how he walked through the wall.
I go down to check it out.
So yeah, I'm in the secret hideout of Team Rocket now:
........ Which is like a fucking maze..... @_@
I'll check it out later... I want a gym badge first.
I head back up the stairs to the Game Corner and decide to check it out a bit more.- Spoiler:
Other people wanted to give me coins, but since I don't have a Coin Case, I couldn't take them... :(
I then come to a photo thing/Pokémon Print thing. 50 Pokédollars gets your current team on the back of your trainer card. I decide to try it out (crappy screenshot coming up):
So yeah, there's a bright flash... @_@
But anyway, the pic/print/whatever is done:
Cool.
With no Coin Case, there's nothing else to do in the Game Corner for now, so I head out and continue checking out the city. Eventually, I come to a hotel:
Of course, there's no room for anymore people...
A house next to the hotel has a few grunts in it, but like the one I saw earlier on the street, they don't battle me. There's also a grunt outside:
*punches him first*
The other building next to all that is a restaurant. Inside, a guy gives me the Coin Case:
Awesome! :D
I then try to get something to eat:
Of course...... :I
I then head on and find a guy who apparently works for Silph Co.
Oh noez! I'd better get it back then! But first, I want a gym badge. :I
I cut a tree blocking the way to the gym, then come to the front.
Pervert....
So anyway, this gym should be easy since Charmelion is so strong, but I try to train Eevee a bit before handing it over to Charmelion. Unfortunately, I forgot to heal Eevee after his battle with the grunt, and he gets KOed by one of the gym trainers.....
Time for Charmelion to go wild in here! :D
There's actually quite a few trainers in here, but all of them have underleveled Pokémon compared to Charmelion. He easily takes care of them, getting to level 34 where he learns:
Yay! :D
I keep Ember for now and replace Smokescreen. After a few more trainers, he gets to level 35. Then I get to Erica:
Only 3 Pokémon, so this shouldn't take long. Round 1 is against her Victreebel:
Charmelion OHKOes it with a Flamethrower. He also gets to level 36! :D
Round 2 is her Tangela:
Again, Charmelion OHKOes it.
Round 3 is her Vileplume:
Aaaaaaaaand another OHKO...... Wow...... That was too easy.....
So win, gym badge, aaaaaaaand:
I HAZ A CHARIZARD NAO!!!! :D
He also learns Wing Attack (I replace Ember since this gym is now burned to ashes).
I then get Giga Drain from Erica:
Aaaaaaaaand that'll basically wrap things up for now. I do head back to the Pokémon Center first and heal, but yeah, that's all for now.
Next time, I'll be kicking Team Rocket butt in their hideout. Until then, see ya!

You use the Tea to get into Saffron. In RBY it was one of the vending machine items, but it was changed to prevent sequence breaking.

To prevent him from trying to figure out how to give that to Oak? Gladly.

I would've loved to see him try. It's one thing to watch an LP by an experienced player, it's quite another to see a LP by a newb.

Re: Let's Play Pokémon Fire Red! Canceled due to screenshot issues...
I figured that I had to give one of those guys in the gates something to drink, so I probably would have figured it out eventually.
It's funny though. All this inexperience reminds me of when I played Gold version (my first Pokémon game) for the first time.
One example of my inexperience in that game was trying to get to Kanto after defeating the elite 4. I got the ticket, but somehow, I didn't know what it was for and though it was for the magnet train.....
What's even worse, I literally spent days in the Goldenrod station waiting for a train that was never coming...
Eventually, I decided to check my ticket and realised my big derp up...
