Well of my numerous playthroughs of Emerald, I always choose either Torchic or Mudkip with maybe one play that never finished with Treecko. Because I already have a fully trained Blazekin, I'm kinda defaulting to Mudkip.

However if the Gym Leaders have changed, then I'll reconsider.

They won't, probably. It is kind of a remake. The only question is Juan or Wallace...and I'm hoping Wallace, because we do not need two Water-type specialists goddammit Game Freak who thought that was a Good Idea.
