You really need to see Mega Charizard Y in action.  I actually liked MCX better until I saw how it animated.

The only problem I saw with the animation was the lack of wing flapping, but it wasn't too bad...

The lack of wing flapping was exactly what ruined it for me.

I'm pretty sure dragons can glide. Or catch warm air under their wings to keep afloat. :I

Depends on the dragon's weight, build, wing surface area, and if the dragon is using magic to help keep itself in the air. But in theory, nearly all dragons should be able to glide, just like planes. It's just a matter of how far...

Gliding in place? No. NO.

I dunno much about air, but I'm sure it'd have to be a HUGE updraft in order to keep that tub of lard afloat.

It seems Lima processes more aeronautical and meteorological knowledge than you do. Lima is comparing dragons to the larger birds which don't flap their wings as much as smaller birds. Instead they catch updrafts of warm air (Thermals) strong enough to not only make them rise in altitude while gliding, but also people carrying gliders.
