truth, you have to defeat your rival first, who then gives you the request to visit the sundial.

But to battle your rival, you must first battle at the Battle Maison.

I know that, I was just suggesting that the way to reveal mega stones was a combination of the truth's statement and lief's statement.

Finding Mega Stones sounds a lot harder than I thought it would be....

Not really, many of them are given to you as gifts.

However you still missed the critically important step of battling at the Battle Maison. As it is the trigger event for the rest of the post story (or at least that's what it looks like to me), it is even more important than battling my rival. Thus it rendered your attempt to be helpful futile.

In any case, I only just got the chance to log back on, 5 hours after battling at the Battle Maison during the ride to Monroe and 2 hours after I mopped the floor with my rival and got the upgrade to my ring during lunch.

And at least two of them (the other two Kanto starter Mega Stones) you...erm...persuade the owner to give to you.

...Whatever. *glances over his shoulder* I mean, uh, congrats and all that stuff...hehe, yeah...   

So I've finally picked up a Stat Reset Bag and now I have to decide who gets it. I'm currently leaning towards using it on my Garchomp, but I'm a little hesitant.

Her nature is Naughty (less Sp. Def, more Attack), her move pool is attack based (Dragon Rush, Crunch, Earthquake, and Fire Fang), her ability is Sand Veil, and her EVs are primarily in Speed and Defense (not intentional, I've had her since Pearl and I've never done EV training serious) with most of the rest in Attack. Her stats are

HP: 366
Attack: 320
Defense: 252
Sp. Atk: 178
Sp. Def: 180
Speed: 275

I've used her competitively before and pretty well used to her getting knocked out. Though one of my friends says she is extremely powerful as is.

If I decide to reset her stats and retrain her, I would put as much as possible into Attack and Speed, and put the rest into HP or leave it to chance.

What do you guys think?
