The boy, realizing that Dino was in thought, decided to cheer him up: “Come on, why are you so skeptical? Let’s just Duel!”
Initially, Dino looked like he did not even hear what he said. In a short amount of time, though, he just shrugged it off and said: “Let’s do it, Felix.”
Dino, and the boy, apparently named Felix, entered the former’s home. They made it to the backyard. For a garden, it looked like no one did take care of it for a long time. Some plants were withered, the grass was not mowed, and the few trees had no fruit on them. Instead, they have all fallen to the ground. Dino uses that place as his Dueling arena, but he never takes care of it, making it look like it is deserted.
Dino and Felix took their places. “Shall we begin?”, Felix shouted as loud as he could.
“Sure”, Dino replied, and a Duel was about to take place.

“D-Pad, go! Duel Gazer, let’s roll!” was what both Duelists chanted, while the system informed them that the AR vision link was established. Soon, Dino began his turn.
From his facial expression, it looked like the cards he drew were good. Yet, he decided to play defensively, just Setting a monster and ending his turn.
“Come on, there is no way you can defeat me by playing defensively!”
“Really? As far as I remember, I beat you 22 times, and you got none!”
“Were they as much? I’ve lost count”
“Just start your turn, will you?”
“Sure. It’s my turn, Draw!”
Felix drew a Monster Card, Hecatrice. He looked content about that. He proceeded to activate a Spell Card “I activate the Spell Card, Terraforming! It allows me to add a Field Spell Card from the Deck to my hand!”
“I know what that card does, I have seen it billions of times!”
“Can you just stop? Told you, this time is different! I choose Light Barrier!”. The spell called “Light Barrier” immediately got added to his hand.
“Now, time to Summon a Monster! I Normal Summon Hecatrice!”. A golden angel statue appeared, with 1500 ATK and 1100 DEF. It did not have arms nor legs. Only a head, torso, abdomen and wings. They were also red jewels engraved in lots of parts on its body.
Dino, looking surprised over the summoning, exclaimed: “This monster does not even have an effect that benefits you now that it is in the field!”
“It still is a 1500 ATK beatstick! Now, Battle Phase! Hecatrice, attack Dino’s Set monster!”. Hecatrice approached Dino’s set monster and started flapping it with its wings. Eventually, the card turned around, and “Kryuel” was revealed. It was a beast with a fiendish appearance. It also had a DEF of 1700, bigger than the ATK of Hecatrice. Felix’s Life point dropped by 200, to 7800.
“It was just a minor setback!”
“A minor setback that has happened 20 times! You do know that every time I set a monster, it is Kryuel, don’t you?”
“Uhm, I have not noticed…”
“Anyway, continue your turn!”
“I’ll just end it. You’re up!”

“Then it’s my turn, and I Draw!” Dino cried, beginning his turn. He then looked at the card he just drew, that being another Kryuel.
“I am Normal Summoning another Kryuel!”. The new Kryuel appeared, in Attack Position. “Now, I activate the effect of Kagetokage from my hand! When I Normal Summon a Level 4 monster, which I just did, I can Special Summon it from the hand! Appear, Kagetokage!”. The shadow of a lizard appeared, with two eyes looking like they were just floating by themselves.
“That’s a good load of monsters you have there, but they all have less ATK than Hecatrice!”
“I am NOT finished! Here comes the best part! I am Overlaying the Level 4 Kryuel in Defense Position with the Level 4 Kagetokage to build the Overlay Network!” The two monsters became dark orbs, who then collided, opening a rift to what was looking like another galaxy. Immediately, Dino started a chant: “Heart of my mind, luck of my soul! The Box that twists the paths of luck! Appear, now! Number 85, Crazy Box!”
From the rift emerged a black cube, which eventually started making protrusions and holes in its surface. A big red “85” was engraved on one of the corner on one of its sides. It eventually stabilized, with two Overlay Units flying around it. It had 3000 ATK. It was nothing less but the Number, the one that Dino had to protect at all costs from the shadowy man.
“That Number of yours! It is so powerful, can you tell me where you got it?”
“I just found it in the Welcome mat of my house!”
“You don’t just find such powerful cards. Something is amiss with these cards. Someone wanted you to get it!”
“JUST SHUT UP! You know nothing about the power of the Numbers!”, he shouted. At this point, a dark aura had surrounded Dino, and his voice became darker.
“Okay, okay. It happens all the time when you get that thing out. I guess you are too excited as always. Too bad the thing can’t attack!”
“It is true! My Number cannot attack, but it does not have to! Its power lies in the manipulation of LUCK! Let me show you! I activate Crazy Box’s effect!”. The monster started changing the nature of its protrusions and holes, and eventually one large protrusion appeared and slammed Hecatrice, destroying it.
“Oh, no! Hecatrice!”, Felix shouted in despair.
Dino managed to calm down, and the aura faded once again. “I am switching Kryuel to Attack Position. Now, Battle Phase! Direct Attack!”. Kryuel slammed Felix, but since he is only a being created by Augmented Reality, Felix just lost 1000 Life Points, down to 6800.
“I end my turn!”
“Here I come! Draw!” Felix drew the card, and he got a wide face upon seeing it. “This is it, I activate the Spell Card Dark Hole!” All your monsters are now destroyed!
“NOOOO! Crazy Box!” Dino shouted as his monsters got all swallowed by a black hole, sent sttaight to the Graveyard.
“Luckily for you, I have no beatsticks to attack you directly! So I am ending my turn by Setting a monster instead!”, Felix exclaimed, passing his turn back to Dino.

“Crazy Box may be gone, but my luck is still intact! Draw!”. Dino drew the card, which looked like very good for the situation.
“I activate the Spell Card, Soul Exchange! With it, I can tribute Summon a Monster by using a monster my opponent controls as a Tribute!”
“WHAAT? No, my Marshmallon!”
“Ah, Marshmallon. A good defensive wall. It would be a shame if anything happened to it. But, wait, it already happened! Marshamllon is Tributed, and I Tribute Summon Blowback Dragon!”
A mechanical dragon appeared as Felix’s Marshmallon got destroyed.
“I have good news for you. Soul Exchange prevents me from attacking this turn. Yet, I am Setting one card before  ending it.”, Dino said, sighing.
“Then it’s my turn, Draw!” As Felix Drew the card, Dino grinned. He subsequently activates the Trap he just set. “I activate The Transmigration Prophecy! It lets me shuffle two cards in the Graveyard back to their original Decks! I choose Kryuel… and CRAZY BOX!”
“WHAAAAAT? You mean you now have a second chance Summoning it?”, Felix shouted, surprised.
“Exactly.”, Dino quietly replied. Just then, Felix grinned too, saying “I don’t care.”
Dino looked puzzled as Felix activated a card: “I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen!”. Some sort of holy shrine appeared on Felix’s side of the field, with marble pillars, ancient statues and even a throne at its end.
“Now, I use Valhalla’s effect! If I do not control any monsters, I can Special Summon a Fairy-type one from my hand right away! I choose Arcana Force 0 – The Fool, and Special Summon it in Defense Position!” A black-and-purple colored being with tentacles sat on the throne, falling asleep on it. It still had 0 ATK and DEF.
Dino asked: “What is that monster? I have not seen it before!”
Felix replied: “It’s my ace! I never got a chance to Summon it before! Now, witness its effect!”.  The tentacles started moving by themselves. Some of them upright, the others downright. In the end, the ones that went upright turned all downright, forming an impenetrable shield around the monster.
“Now, The Fool is not only invulnerable to destruction by battle, but also can destroy any card that targets it with its effect! That means, even your Blowback Dragon is useless against it!”
“I have to admit, this is a good combo you pulled off there, Felix! But I can go through it. I just have to draw that card! Luck be with me, Crazy Box help me! I have to draw that card!”
“Relying on just one card will not save you, Dino! I told you, your luck ends today! I will give you a chance, though. I am just Setting a monster, ending my turn. Now, try to Draw that one card.”
“I will. Crazy Box give me luck!” Dino cried, as he drew the card. It was not the one he wanted, though.

“No luck, eh? Told you, your luck ends today!”
“Okay okay, you told me! Now, have a taste of my Quick-Play Spell card, Dicephoon! I roll a six-sided die. If I roll 1 or 6 I receive 1000 points of damage. If I roll 2,3,4 a Spell or Trap card is destroyed. If I roll 5, two of them will get the treatment! Dicephoon Dice Roll!”
The die rolled a 3, and the typhoon proceeded to destroy Valhalla. The Fool is now sleeping on the floor.
“Next, I use Blowback Dragon’s effect on your Set monster! The three cannons load with laser radiation. If 2 of the 3 collide right on the target, that target is destroyed! Laser Shatter!” The 3 shots go to completely different spots on  the field, doing nothing.
“Damn. Plan B, I am Normal Summoning Snipe Hunter!” A black pixie appeared, holding a sniper gun with 6 ammo slots. It has 1500 ATK and 600 DEF.
“Now, Battle Phase! Blowback Dragon, attack Felix’s Set monster! Laser Blaster!” Blowback Dragon shot a laser beam on the monster, revealed to be Level Eater, which got destroyed.
“Ending my turn.”
“This makes it! I Draw! Now, I Normal Summon Gellenduo!” Two jellylike creatures, one pink and one green, appeared, with each having a halo around its body. Together, they had 1700 ATK and 0 DEF.
“Now, Battle Phase! Gellenduo, attack Snipe Hunter!”. The two jellies hit the pixie, and reduced Dino’s Life Points to 7800.
“I finally dealt you damage!”
“Maybe, but I will deal you much more next turn!”
“There is a long way till you will beat me again! I end my turn!”
“As expected. I Draw!”. Dino drew a Spell Card.
“Let’s use it, because why not? I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Dangerous Machine Type-6!”. A giant spherical machine with 6 holes appeared. “During each of my Standby Phase, the Machine will choose one of 6 effects and apply accordingly!”
Felix whispered: “If it manages to survive until the Standby Phase…”
Dino, who heard half of it asked: “What did you say?”
Felix replied: “Nothing, nothing. Just thinking out loud.”
“Whatever. Battle Phase! Blowback Dragon, attack Gellenduo!”
“Wait, what?! Gellenduo can’t get destroyed by battle! Why didn’t you just use Blowback’s effect on it?”
“Not destroyed by battle you said? Maybe, but there is a little loophole to it!”
Indeed, Gellenduo was not destroyed by battle, but Felix received 600 points of damage. He now has 5600. Right after receiving the damage, the Gellenduo just disappeared!
“You overlooked one of Gellenduo’s effects! When you receive damage, it immediately gets destroyed!”
“Oh, no! Why did I have to forget that?!”
“I don’t know why, what I know is that you have no chance of beating me like this!”
“Dream on! Told you, your luck is over!”
“If you say so, prove it! I end my turn!”
“My turn, Draw! I may not be able to prove it right away, but I can kill your Machine for sweet revenge! Mystical Space Typhoon!”
A typhoon appeared through the Spell Card and destroyed the machine.
“I may better do nothing more, the Fool is enough for himself! I end my turn!”
“Said Fool is nothing compared to that monster!”
“If you ever Draw it!”

“I will! My turn, Draw!” Dino draws the card, but it should not be the monster he wanted, so he just Sets it and ends his turn.
“It’s my turn again! Draw!” Felix smiles, satisfied about his newly drawn card. He proceeds to Summon it: “I Normal Summon Arcana Force VII – The Chariot!” A black being, looking like a machine, with tentacle-like mechanic hands appeared. Felix continued: “When The Chariot is Summoned, its tentacles land either upright or downright and the effect adjusts accordingly!”
Soon, the tentacle-like hands start waving up and down, until all of them end to the up.
“Since I get the upright effect, whenever The Chariot destroys a monster by battle, I take control of it instead of getting destroyed! Now, let’s enter the Battle Phase! Chariot, attack Dino’s Set monster!”
The Set monster was Twin-Barrel Dragon, a mechanical dragon like Blowback Dragon, but smaller. It had high ATK, but only 200 DEF, so it easily got destroyed by the Chariot, whose attack is 1700.
“Now, I Special Summon Twin-Barrel Dragon to my side of the field in Attack Position!” he said, as Twin-Barrel Dragon returned from the Graveyard on Felix’s side of the field.
“As you should know, Twin-Barrel Dragon has an effect! When Summoned, the two cannons in his back load up, and if they both hit the target I select, it is destroyed! Now, Twin-Barrel, Twin-Barrel Shatter!”
The two beams aimed the two barrels at completely different directions, doing nothing.
“You may usurp control of my monsters by force, but their will, their one of luck, is still on my side!”
“I was just unlucky! Ending my turn.”
Dino sighed, and got prepared to start his turn: “Crazy Box, give me the card! Draw!” The card he drew was still not the card he wanted.
“I activate Blowback Dragon’s effect again, this time on Arcana Force VII – The Chariot! Laser Shatter!”
Blowback Dragon launched his three lasers, and although one hit, it was not enough to destroy Chariot.
“I will just attack it then! Battle Phase! Blowback Dragon, attack The Chariot! Laser Blaster!”
The attack was powerful enough to tear The Chariot to pieces. Felix’s Life Points dropped as a result. They are now just 5600.
“I end my turn.”
“Then it’s time for me to sweep you out! Draw!” Felix shouted, as he activated a Spell Card.
“I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Second Chance! Any luck-based effects that I activate, provided they only have two possible outcomes can be negated and retried once per turn! I am also switching Twin-Barrel Dragon to Defense Position, ending my turn.”

Dino was about to draw again: “Please, my Box, help me out! I WANT that card! Give it to me! Draw it for me! Go!”
This time, he finally drew that card. Without losing time, he proceeded to its activation: “What I was waiting for! Spell Card, Creeping Darkness! It allows me to banish 2 Level 4 DARK monsters from my Graveyard, in order to add a Level 4 DARK monster from my Deck to the hand! I banish Kagetokage and Kryuel, to add to my hand… GAMBLER OF LEGEND!”
“Gambler of Legend? I have not seen you using this card before!”
“There is always a first time, Felix! Now, Appear, Gambler of Legend!”. A cowboy standing at a wall, with a coin in his hand now appeared. Apparently, this is the Gambler of Legend.
“Gambler of Legend, effect! He tosses the coin 3 times, and depending on the number of heads, I apply the effects!”
“Are these effects strong enough to defeat my Fool? I don’t think so.”
“I do! What am I aiming for is 3 Heads. It destroys all monsters my opponent controls without targeting them!”
“Wow… still, there is no chance you will get 3 Heads!”
“You are wrong! Crazy Box, lend me the power! Gambler, First Coin Toss!”. The black aura surrounded Dino again, and the Gambler tossed a Heads.
“Again, Second Coin Toss!” The Gambler tosses the coin again, it is Heads once more.
Felix watched, surprised: “You got to be kidding me…”
“Not at all! This is it, Third Coin Toss! Give me a Heads!”
The Gambler tossed the coin one last time, and the result was… Heads.
“We did it! Legendary Gamble Blast!”
Out of nowhere, a blast of fire appeared and destroyed The Fool.
“NOOOOOO! You can’t just do this to me!”
“I just did! To ensure victory, take this too! Blowback Dragon, Laser Shatter on Second Coin Toss!” This time, the attack was successful and the Spell got destroyed.
“Battle Phase! Gambler of Legend, attack! Blowback Dragon, Laser Blaster!”
The combined attack dropped Felix’s Life Points down by 2800, so that only 2800 were remaining.
“I end my turn. Next turn, you are DOOMED!”

“I can still win! Wait and see! Draw!”. Felix just stared at the card he drew, before Setting it and ending his turn.
“That’s all I can do. Try to beat me, Dino.”
“I don’t have to try! I just WILL! Draw!”. Dino’s new card was another Twin-Barrel Dragon. Not losing time, he Summoned it. “Now, Twin-Barrel Shatter on Felix’s Set Card!”
The blast went through, destroying the card.
“How can it be? It is only 1 to 4 a chance!”
Dino just said, before replying: “With Crazy Box, anything is possible. See for yourself! I Overlay my Level 4 Gambler of Legend with my Level 4 Twin-Barrel Dragon to build the Overlay Network! Heart of my mind, luck of my soul! The Box that twists the paths of luck! Appear again! Number 85, Crazy Box!”
Crazy Box is now back to the field, and the dark aura surrounding Dino suddenly intensified. “You shall now suffer for trying to stop my wrath! Crazy Box, show him your ultimate effect!”
“Suffer? Dino, are you serious? We are friends!”
“I know no friendship, I have no heart! All that matters to me is the luck, the MADNESS! Just do your effect, my soul!”
What was Dino’s white outfit is now looking extremely Black, as the Number starting changing the nature of its protrusions once again. In the end, the process stopped and what remained was a perfect, black cube.
“Face the ultimate effect, for it is your suffering! Crazy Box negated its own effect, and it can attack! Feel each single of its three thousand attack points to the bone! Cube Crash!”
The cube rolled towards Felix, slamming him again and again all over the yard, until he got stuck to the wall, unconscious. The damage from the Number, it is real. Dino had won the Duel, but his friend was now in danger. The AR vanished, and with it the Number and the dark aura that was manipulating its holder.
Dino, now in control of his actions, approaches his friend, and starts crying for what he did to him. What sorrowed him even more is that he could have won without hurting him, by just attacking with the simple Effect monsters. Now, his only thought is to help him, in order to be forgiven someday. He quickly called the ambulance, which transported him to hospital.

1) The boy is revealed to be named Felix, friend of Dino and neighbour, whom Dino had defeated 22 times in a Duel before.
2) Dino and Felix decide to Duel, in Dino's backyard. They open AR and begin (the Duel was initially unscripted, between me and Chaosj2 using the Deck of the NPC Felix. After me winning the DN duel, we agreed to alter the last turns a bit to fit more to the plot)
3) During the Duel, Dino Xyz Summons Number 85:Crazy Box and displays its ability to manipulate luck to a limited extent
4) Felix counterattacks with Dark Hole and Special Summons Arcana Force 0 - The Fool in Defense. He tosses the coin and gets Tails, making the fool unable to get targeted by effs or destroyed by battle, forming a good wall.
5) Dino eventually returns Crazy Box to the Extra Deck with Transmigration Prophecy, then Normal Summons Gambler of Legend and get 3 heads  to destroy The Fool. From here on, the Duel changes to scripted.
6) Xyz Summons Crazy Box again, and rolls a 4. Now able to attack, Crazy Box gives Felix the finishing hit. The damage is real, Felix gets knocked out and slammed to a wall, unconscious. Dino regrets for what he did and calls an ambulance to transport Felix straight to hospital.
