As of now, the only real post-game is catching Lanthan and Actan, plus doing whatever sidequests you missed. I think. And technically you can rematch the Tandor Championship, but due to a bug, it'll crash your game.

But a future patch will add in a sidequest centering around the legendary sea monsters, if not others.

Speaking of sidequests, there's one on Route 8 that gets you a S51, which is the only way to obtain it. After you beat the 4th gym, you won't be able to return to Route 8. Its evolution S51-A can Mega Evolve, but currently the only way to get its Mega Stone is from the 7th gym leader, who will give you the Mega Stone of any one Pokemon in your party.

So basically, if you ever want to Mega Evolve S51-A, DO THE SIDEQUEST AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

The wiki also warns do not save during the sidequest or the game will crash upon loading.

TBH, I can't really see why any of it is a bad idea.

Oh no, you can (probably) get it after you beat the game. The Mega Stone is the main problem.

But I'm willing to bet it'll get a proper location patched in eventually.

The post-game comes up rather quick after the battle with the legendary mascot, and you have time to save and prepare and whatnot.

Unless you're able to say "no wait let me wait until the post-game" to the guy who gives you the Mega Stone, then you don't have a chance to do so for the Unidentified Fallen Object.
