There's a new video out from Japan Expo France with Junichi Masuda talking about a few things.  In the video, Masuda talks about how France is the inspiration for the new region due to X and Y being 'beauty themed.' He also mentions that Kalos comes from the ancient Greek word meaning "beauty".

He also talks about other interesting things in the video, like the new Ghost/Steel Pokémon, how he went to France just after Black and White were out, and how some people recognized him in France, which made him worry that people would suspect the next games would be based on France, plus a few other things:

There's over 400 Pokémon, at least, that semi-do. It's natural.

Honedge doesn't sound any more original than most of the Gen I names, not sure why it's something to complain about.

Nah, seems to do more with the fact that it's a sword. Somewhat of a double pun-type thing, then - "honed edge".

I never connected hone to a ghost, unless Soul Reapers count.

Glad to see they're using the new type for a recently-revealed legendary 'mon, especially a version mascot.

I'm kinda disappointed that it only has a single type, though. Especially since Yveltal gets Dark/Flying.

The new team design also looks wicked cool, but they have the absolute most boring motive one could ever come up with.
