Re: General Chat! [v9]
In Los Angeles for the past four years or so, we've been getting earthquakes about 2-3 times per year. It's actually a good thing because that means the pressure is being relieved slowly, rather than building up and effing stuff up (like San Francisco or Northridge...)
I am morbidly fearful of an earthquake happening at my college because it is located exactly on a fault line. I never park in parking structures.
I'm glad to know everyone's alright. I'm sorry for your town, jokool.

Re: General Chat! [v9]
Interesting day today.
Started out with having to repark a karate camp bus that was parked in a spot it wasn't supposed to be in. Later one of my coworkers picked up the ticket for it and discovered it was four tires. With these buses being so large and duallys, it's generally not pleasant to work on them.
However I really wanted a chance to do tires on a dually to prove to myself I could do it, so I offered to take over that ticket for him if he took over mine, which he quickly agreed. I put the bus on the heaviest duty rack we have and set about removing the lugs. I found the job going quite smoothly and was enjoying myself, a rarity as of late at work.
Breaking the tires down and mounting the new ones proved to be a relative breeze. It was helped considerable that these wheels were rather small and easy to work with. However when it came time to balance them, we discovered we were missing an adapter for the balancer.
Our shuttle driver had just left on a delivery to our preferred body shop so my boss granted me permission to take Ayumi and one of the wheels over to another shop to find the correct adapter. The drive to and from was nice and pleasant. Once I returned to the shop, I found myself wishing I had another bus to do tires on and quite happy in the process.
Also amusing, we had two vehicles come in today for unrelated issues and we found that both needed engines.

Coworker got called out due to illness, now I'm going in at 11 to pick up the slack. So I got two an half hours to take care of my personal business before weekend rush hour.

Re: General Chat! [v9]
why is it that a song can sound perfectly calming and soothing when you're happy but if you listen to it when upset you can pick up every bit of despair the song has?

- Spoiler:
More seriously, I'd suggest you're at least partly projecting your own emotions into the music.

This shows how much of a kid I still am:
On top of all that, I'm currently chewing double bubble bubble gum.
- My recent purchases:
The store I work at just got a huge display of Hot Wheels. My friend at work said I'd probably be buying one every day I came in. It's day two currently, and I've bought a Mustang and a Camero.- They also had this in a toy vending machine:
It's called an Octo Squishy, it's a pencil (or in my case, a pen) topper, and it's super kawaii! ^o^
...I got one the other day in purple, but I lost my pen earlier today, so I had to get another one... This one is sitting safely on top of my computer currently.
On top of all that, I'm currently chewing double bubble bubble gum.

Re: General Chat! [v9]
So today I visited Wallyworld's Used Car Lot and found a 2001 Ford F-250 Diesel. This is the beloved 7.3L Diesel that is rather famous for it's longevity when taken care of. This truck wasn't in the best shape, it's clearly done some heavy hauling in it's past with the bottom of the bed being crushed and overall dirty appearance. But the rust ain't too bad for a truck with over 290,000 miles.
They didn't list a price, but they did give a phone number I left a message on. Now I'm starting to have some second thoughts, like what the hell would I do with it if I was able to get it for a good price ($3,000 or less)? How long would it last before something broke down? The truck obviously has been used, and the automatic transmissions for these trucks are the weak point, many have had the transmission replaced more than once. And it is pretty beat up.
I guess if the seats ain't bad, the truck starts up and runs fine, and I can get it cheap (again $3,000 or less) because of the body and apparent hard miles, then I'll buy it. After all lower mileage trucks in great condition are worth $15,000 at least and typically sell for much higher.
