Hmm... now I must pick between Bulbasaur and Squirtle. I've used both in FireRed, but my knowledge of their abilities is rather dated...

Bulbasaur is a Grass/Poison Pokémon that focuses on being physical and inflicting statuses. Weirdly enough (probably because Grass was a special type...I think) it has a great Special Attack. And Special Defense. When it evolves into Venusaur, it can evolve into Mega Venusaur, who gets Thick Fat, reducing Fire and Ice damage by 1/2, effectively nulling its weaknesses to those types.

Squirtle is a defensive Pokémon, boasting high defense-type stats but low-ish speed and attack stats. It's slightly more adept at using Special attacks, but generally the two types of attacks are about equal. Upon Mega Evolution, it gains Mega Launcher, which power up moves with Aura and Pulse in their names.

And here I was about to leave with Squirtle. I know neither is good in the speed department, but now I need t look a little more into both before making my decision.

Hmm... stats alone are surprising to me and suggest I should pick Bulbasaur.

The mega evolution makes Blastoise the heavier hitter. Now I need to get more information on mega evolution and compare move sets.

Mega Venusaur operates defensively, negating its weaknesses to Fire and Ice and boasting large defense stats.

Mega Blastoise operates on a more offensive front, with the 50% increase in power to Aura and Pulse moves (it learns four of them (Aura Sphere, Water Pulse, Dragon Pulse, and Dark Pulse) and has a varied moveset with them.

Knowing you, I'd pick Squirtle :I

It can only learn Aura Sphere and Dragon Pulse from Breeding  meaning those moves are useless until I complete the game so I can focus on training and breeding another Squirtle. Oh yeah unless I'm really lucky, I'll have to find a Ditto, either one in game or find the one I originally imported from Pearl into White.


Hmm... coming back to typing... Venusaur has more weaknesses, but resistance to Fairies. Blastoise has just two weakness and one of which can be negated with Ice Beam (which also covers Dragons) and fire based team I have and surely one of my team will be able to learn Earthquake.

Oh. Welp. ._.; Although if you get a Ditto, you can't teach it Aura Sphere, so.

Mega Venusaur also has but two weaknesses unless its ability is negated (Flying and Psychic).

I have a Wartortle I got from WT that has its Hidden Ability and it knows those moves. :3

I can use a Ditto to get a female with enough patience, which would allow me breed Aura Sphere onto a Squirtle.

Do any of you guys have or can get a little Bulbasaur?
