"Wednesday" is named after the Norse god Odin.

  1. Odin was transliterated to "Woden" in Old English.
  2. In Old English, to make a word possessive, you add an "es" to the end.
  3. Thus, when naming the days, they named it Wodenes Day, which eventually became Wednesday, meaning the day of Odin.

The Dodge I've been looking was originally a fleet truck. It's also very possible it's never had a transmission put in it as there's no mention of such a repair in the history. It's also been traded hands more times than my original check revealed. Carfax revealed that the truck has been traded between dealers several times now.

My interest in this just severely degraded, I'd likely have to put a transmission in it, especially if I took it plowing. Dodge transmissions are not known for their reliability, most don't last 200,000 miles.

After loading up Bioshock Remastered, I didn't go into the main game and instead did some of the bonus stuff to see how well it performed on my computer (good news, it runs pretty good).

One bonus is a museum that shows off early concept art and stuff like that, sooooo....

Today I learned that the Little Sisters originally started off as just slugs in early concept. A few other ideas were thrown out before the Little Sisters final design came to be, including...a dog in a wheelchair.

One of my coworkers locked the motor up in his Honda Civic today. He mentioned it had been leaking some oil. I didn't know that we're talking about a lot of oil. The thing was drenched in oil. For whatever reason, he wasn't really checking his oil level. And it bit him today, and smoked his clutch too.

Remember kids, you should check your oil level at every time you fill up and remember to wipe the stick, then take your measurement.

Stilling going along the bus thing from last night, I decided to look up insurance costs. There I discovered that most companies will not cover a RV converted school bus, my own included. This is very significant because to get around needing a CDL in Virginia a full sized bus would need to be registered as an RV.

They say the reason is that school buses have narrower axles than other vehicles, making them likely to be involved in a roll over if converted into an RV.

I wonder about a Type A school bus.... (the little ones based off of vans or pickups)

Today I learned that Ayumi won't give me any indication that she has a turn signal out. I stopped to offer help to a guy with a broken down pickup, threw the hazards on, and went to push with another Samaritan and a cop that was on scene before I was. After pushing the truck into a turn lane, I returned to Ayumi whom I had parked up over the curb. I saw that her driver rear turn signal wasn't flashing. It's been a little bit since I've bothered to check my lights in the mirror at night so I have no idea how long it's been out.

Many vehicles will flash faster when a bulb is out. The flasher I put into Ayumi a month ago apparently flashes too fast to allow a noticeable difference to occur.

Lucky me, I get to throw a bulb in for free because the shop gets them for less than dirt cheap.

Well, technically, all the days of the week are named after planets and Norse and Roman mythologies all had named the planet's after their Gods.

  1. Sunday is the Sun - Helios and Sunna
  2. Monday is the Moon - Luna and Mona/Mani
  3. Tuesday is Mars - Mars and Twi/Tyr
  4. Wednesday is Mercury - Mercury and Odin
  5. Thursday is Jupiter - Jupiter and Thor
  6. Friday is Venus - Venus and Fridge/Freya
  7. Saturday is Saturn - I think Saturn is in both, or something because I can't find a Norse equivalent.

A lot of experienced plow drivers actually plow in 2WD and rarely engage 4WD. A number of them even opt for RWD trucks. And having worked on a Diesel Excursion today, I'm starting to think about getting a RWD Diesel.

Sometimes vanilla ice cream isn't on sale even when you're craving it.

Haha vanilla bean from Breyers is my favorite, but Breyers wasn't on sale at all and I wasn't in the mood to buy Turkey Hill Columbian coffee. Will go shopping today to see what they have, and I might get a can of whipped cream too. <3

Recently downloaded the soundtrack for The Binding of Isaac to my phone since I had it on Steam. While listening to it today, I learned that C418, the guy who does the music for Minecraft, has a remix that's on the OST.

The Space Shuttle's engines were updated during their lives to allow the engines to run at a maximum of 111% of rated power in an emergency. Normal launch profiles called for about 104%.

It is also worth noting that rated power refers to the original specification of the engine, 1,670 kN at sea level.
