How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Make a Game

This is, basically, the thread to discuss the Pit Stop-based game that is currently being planned. Development will most likely be in RPG Maker, probably in VX Ace. Discussion includes how you want your character's skills set up (i.e. damage slammer, hit absorber, pain reliever, status causer, Magikarp...Magikarper), your character's appearance, what you think should be in the game, plot discussion, etc.

Currently planned plans:
Plot: Something involving Dýrið and maybe Much, the wizard who did it.
Characters and skills:

Lief: Paladin: Tank that has light healing skills. Equips swords and heavy armor. Str+ Vit+ Spd-
Truthseeker: Soul Captain: Slams the enemy with heavy damaging skills (physical rating 200+) that consume tons of MP. MP regen method: HP to MP. Equips katanas and heavy armor. HP+ Atk+ Mag+ Def-(?) Mdf-(?)
romch: Lightning Thief: A quick attacker that steals anything belonging to the enemy - items, money, stats, even their good health. Equips daggers and light armor. Spd++ Atk- Def-
jokool: Icy Soul: A physical attacker that revolves around using ice attacks. Equips katanas and light armor. Atk+ Spd+ HP-(?) 
Lux: Dream Warrior: A mage that can call the elements in...unique ways. Can modify stats with his Emotion equipment. MP regen method: Dream Power (goes to sleep and regens MP) All stats equal to better manipulate with Emotions.
Bunny: Flaming Archer: An archer with access to fire magic. Equips bows and light armor. Spd+ Mag+ Atk semi+
Greece: Summoner of Ancients: Summons various things to attack the enemy, using a book. Equips books and light armor.Summoned objects: ??? preferably Greek gods HP- Atk- Def- Mag+ Mdf+ MP+
Lima: A hand-to-hand fighter-type. HP+ Atk+ Spd+ Def- Mdf-
zikeep: Onion Warrior: Starts off being horrible but then, with enough effort, becomes awesome. All stats start awful but then become awesome. Equips everything but magic equips.
Charles: The Medic (wittier class name to come up with eventually): Heals, buffs, the works.

Other things To Do:

  • Tier the magic system. (i.e. how many tiers of magic (2, 3, 4) and how to refer to the different tiers (numbers, Roman numerals, suffixes, etc.)
  • Figure out the elements.
  • ???
  • Profit.

I think suffixes for tier magic could me fun to play around with instead of using numbers.

And for the elemental system we might just keep in the normal way they're done, unless someone has some fun ideas.

EDIT: And maybe until we talk to Lima about her role we could make her a combat medic as a place holder

I don't like that idea, but I do like putting in Dunspach as some kind of Divine Figure you must journey to meet.

If we had some kind of Ultimate Skill thing Dunspach could give it to us as an Event. Dunspach is really more of a mythological figure rather then a species, really.

If the game is non-profit then there's nothing to worry about.

I for one don't think we really need to make a profit because if we did then we could use a lot of things that we've embraced.

Also seeing as we have two summoners maybe they should do different things (I didn;t see any specifications in lux's character for what his summons did) so maybe it could be like bravely default where one class uses summons to buff the team and the other class uses summons to attack

Lux's "summons" are just funny ways of doing magic attacks (an example given was that instead of performing a water attack, he's use soda).

So your logic is that as long as it isn't a character that exists in canon, we should be fine.

Like, say I'll use the Paladin class from Final Fantasy XIV. That would be fine, since it isn't a character, just a class, but if I used an actual Paladin from Final Fantasy XIV, that would be too far?

Ah, ok that makes sense and it could be pretty amusing

So our plot is Misson out of control. what does that mean exactly? I'm rarely in mission control so I don't really know what to expect that and I kind of want to see if we get to explore Morbo

Ah yes, Dýrið. The unbeatable force of mass destruction. Like TS turned Up To Eleven. That will be a great final boss.

On the other hand, killing the unkillable is a RPG staple.

It was like various enemies from games overran the Pit Stop and we had to beat them up, but with Cap saying "hey guys we shouldn't use actual characters" that's kind of been nixed. Particularly since one of the bosses was Gilgamesh, who was like a less-Engrishy more honorable Fawful.
