You just need a lot of heals and/or Star Pendants (to null poison) for Qada.

I FINALLY BEAT THEM 
All I had to do was grind a bit and actually give Tiz a sword 'cause good lord he does a lot of damage with one.

For the curious, equipment stats (well, P.Atk, P.Def, and M.Def) are affected like so:
S-Rank: 2x bonus to stats (Iron Knuckles equipped on a character with S-Knuckles would get +28 P.Atk rather than +14)
A-Rank: 1.8x
B-Rank: 1.6x
C-Rank: 1.4x
D-Rank: 1.2x
E-Rank: 1x
So you'd need a pair of knuckles with twice the attack stat of a sword in order to deal equal damage.
Equipping a character with Knuckle Lore (level 5 Monk ability/innate ability of Monk) would give them a bonus to P.Atk equal to Level * 2 if they fight barehanded, so if your level is equal to or greater than a given weapon's P.Atk, then you can shed the weapon and beat stuff up.

- IIRC the second exit for Eternia (on the far left side of the map) leads you to somewhere else - the "three paths" Edea mentioned. All of the paths lead to the location of the Earth Crystal.
