Re: Off to the Movies!
I saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them last night! It was pretty.
I'm really glad I happened to be rereading the last Harry Potter book. I got more references with it fresh on my mind.

I picked up a copy of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders from my grocery store's Redbox! Gonna watch it tonight, maybe.

Re: Off to the Movies!
Just got back from seeing Rogue One tonight (and I saw SING! yesterday)
I enjoyed the movie quite a lot, though it seemed mom, Valk, and Snazz just thought it was mediocre. They liked The Force Awakens more, while I think I liked Rogue One a bit more. Of course, it has a different kind of feel compared to the other Star Wars movies, but that may be part of why I liked it.

Funny, I saw it tonight too, and tbh I'm in the same boat as your mom and company.

Re: Off to the Movies!
I wouldn't call it a favorite movie of mine, and there were certainly a lot of things that could have been better, but I connected well enough with the characters and story to enjoy it. I honestly think I cried more in Force Awakens due to the music, but I cried for the characters (and scenery, I won't lie) in Rogue One (even going in knowing spoilers.)

Re: Off to the Movies!
My mom saw it at Disney World last week while she and her husband were on vacation. She said it was really good, so I hope I can get to see it soon.

Re: Off to the Movies!
Saw Pirates 5 (Dead Men Tell No Tales) earlier (opened a Christmas gift early ). Good movie, lots of fun, felt a bit rushed at times though, and I honestly can't tell if they were wanting to end the series here or set up something else... I'm thinking the former, but have a few things here and there in case there's a 6th film.
- spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:
- Bittersweet seeing Barbossa sacrifice himself to save his daughter and kill Salazar.
Did not expect to actually see Elizabeth at the end there, so that was awesome that they actually showed her reuniting with Will. That post credit scene though...

Re: Off to the Movies!
As I said, saw Incredibles 2 last night.
- Spoiler:
- I liked it. When I heard the movie focused on Helen/Elastigirl I was a little worried the rest of the family wouldn't get any attention, but thankfully pretty much all of them had an arc. Dash's was almost nonexistent, but...also yay, they found out about the baby having powers! I'm kinda not a fan of when there's this huge secret that a piece of media flaunts but never lets its characters know about. And I'm glad Frozone plays a fair role, and isn't just the cavalry that shows up in the final act like the last film...I think? tbh it's been nearly a decade since I last saw the first one.
The side characters were fun, Voyd and Winston in particular. Uh...can't really think of what else to say besides the elephant in the room.
Right, so. The Screenslaver. That was a little bit of a disappointment. At first, with the whole "can control anyone through screens" bit, and his appearance, spiel about the populace living vicariously through superheroes, and ESPECIALLY that creepy voice, I was really into this villain. But then it turns out that was just some random dude the real villain was using as a scapegoat. And she didn't have a cool costume or voice or unsettling speeches and her plan to keep superheroes illegal felt like a waste all she had available. Like, you have the ability to control any person on the planet, and you use it to...make society dislike a group of people? Seriously?

Re: Off to the Movies!
I've somehow managed to get through my life without watching the Jrrassic Park movies, so Valk and her friend have been sitting me down the past couple of nights to get caught up for the new movie. Last night we watched the last Jurassic Park movie, and tonight will be the first Jurassic World one, so woop.
