*gave up and uninstalled it*
my one star review of it wrote: Server issues, constantly crashing, and on the rare occasions that I would be able to log in, the Pokemon never appeared in the vr, game would crash again, or something else would go wrong... Maybe my phone is partially to blame, but there are clearly issues on the game's end as well... No idea how this game has become so popular with how crappy it is.

everyone I know that can play it has only one of the aforementioned issues, and it's server issues.

Well, sometimes you can't log in simply because of the server issues, so that's a thing. As for the vr aspect, I find it much easier on the eyes just to have the AR off. :V

Re: Poké Park [v5]
- If you don't want to hear negativity about pokemon go, don't open:
Does anyone else not "feel" Pokemon Go?
Since I own a copy of every Pokemon in Pokemon Y, I don't feel the appeal of getting a limited amount of Pokemon on another app. It doesn't have any appeal for me and while I see the nostalgia and understand why it is a novelty to some, that's exactly why I don't prefer it: it's a novelty. If I wanted to see Pokemon in 3D in real life, I could play Pokemon XD or photoshop Pokemon into real life photos.
Furthermore, most of the Pokemon are Gen I. I don't prefer Gen I Pokemon, and I guess that was the final straw for me.
That being said, I think it was a very smart marketing move of Nintendo to make, I'm glad so many people like it, and I am also pleased with it reviving public interest in Pokemon.

Re: Poké Park [v5]
There only being Generation I Pokémon in GO is pretty much just because it's a great starting point. There's going to be more Pokémon later - the creators explicitly confirmed that at Comic Con.
Also Pokémon XD isn't exactly "seeing Pokémon in real life". I'd argue that Photoshopping Pokémon is quite a different experience as well, and not one as easily accessible.

Re: Poké Park [v5]
Oh, I know that. It just made me less interested in Pokemon Go than if, say, they added a few more Pokemon from other regions and decreased the amount of Pokemon from Gen I from the launch of the app. However, considering how there is a sizable amount of genwunners, their decision makes sense. Personally, it made me less inclined to want to play Pokemon Go. Although, I question them deciding to use the original three legendary birds if represent the only teams available for players to choose from.
There's no denying Go is its own experience, but it's not different or advanced enough for me to be enticed enough to regularly play it.
Like I said, Pokemon Go is an overall positively received game, and from what I can see, it is that way for a reason. Not my cup of tea, though

Re: Poké Park [v5]
So.... I downloaded Pokémon GO again after one of my coworkers mentioned that they had patched the game recently, so it works much better now, and he was right! I can actually play now, and, even though my phone still has crappy service, I was able to catch a bunch of Pokémon yesterday when we were in a town where I had good signal!
...most of the Pokémon I caught were Pidgey and Ratata, but still!
I just hit level 5 after evolving one of the Pidgey I had into a Pidgeotto, but I could use some advice and tips on how to play better, especially on when to use candy and insence.

Incense should definitely be used when you have a 30-minute stretch of time where you aren't going to go anywhere.
I, personally, reserve my candies for evolution. If it's already evolved, though, there's not too much of a downside to powering it up.

Really? Is Trailside Park a gym as well, or at least a Pokestop?
also, Carolina Bros. has a gym and 2 or 3 Pokestops, with another couple right across the street.
Me, I normally go to the Sports Pavillion. The bus stop out front is a gym, and the gazebo, tennis courts, and clock tower are all Pokestops. There are also various Pokestops all along that side of the lake, with a second gym at the northernmost point. There are also three pokestops in that shopping center there.
Good to know.

I dunno if the park is a gym, but the library actively displays that is one and apparently even hands out actual badges.

There are a ton of PokeStop locations in my area. I'm from Los Angeles, which must be why.
