Wait, does Shell and Brave do what they do in the regular Final Fantasy games? (Raise Magic Defense and Attack, respectively.)

The thing about guns is that I'm not sure which job class they would go with, or if I would have to make a new one. I think It would work with Dragoons though.

Material finder- can find item materials, more materials will be found at higher levels(FS)
Hunter-Can kill animals and get meat. higher levels equal more meat(FS)
Appearance: He is roughly 5'8" with medium length black hair with the bangs covering the right eye which is a mechanical eye with a crosshair visible on it. He wears dark black paints which are torn and a dark red long sleeve shirt with the right sleeve torn off. His right arm is completely mechanical. He wears a dark green cloak which goes down to his knees and covers his arms. He wears black boots. On his back is a small boiler which has a pipe connecting into his right shoulder. He carries his gun in a holster on his right side. His eyes are grey.
Weapon Appearance: Looks like a pistol but has a small pipe on the side which connects to his hand when he holds it.
Personality: huehuehuehuehue
History: A dude who did stuffs, pm has more details :T
Anything Else?: His gun shoots out compressed steam instead of bullets so each shot is like being hit by a hot punch. Also for ammo he uses the water in his tank

With my ~extensive knowledge of Final Fantasy~ I'd recommend "Machinist" as a job class rather than Ranger.

oh wells, but anyway, he's less a tinkerer and more a ranged fighter so ranger suit him more :T
