The bear seems to be the worst part about her, at least it seems like she ditches it later in the filler.

Oh yeah, she ditches it before the Dartz arc. She also develops a crush on Yugi, too.

She even mentions throwing the bear out in the Grand Championship arc during her duel with Leon.

The entirety of Rebecca's existence is filler.

Seriously though. First she appeared in a filler episode and whined about how Solomon stole Blue-Eyes until her grandpa, being Awesome, put her in her place. Then she appeared in the Waking the Dragons arc, being magically older and/or in college. Then she appeared in World Championship(?) because she was with the gang in WtD.

Related to filler arcs, hot damn Gansely is a cheater. Well, all of the Big Five are cheaters, coming up with the Deck Master system. But then he basically forces Kuriboh to be Yugi's Deck Master (rather than Dark Magician, as he was planning). Oh, and there's no way for anybody besides the Big Five to know what the Deck Master abilities are.

Dueling is, basically, a single game of Yu-Gi-Oh. (Or Duel Monsters, whichever.)

There are two players - each with a deck of 40 to 60 cards, consisting of monsters to do battle with, and Spell and Trap Cards to power them up, destroy the opposition, help you get other cards from your deck, and other fun stuff that typically helps you win or at least not lose. (If it doesn't, chances are there's a way so that you can make it help you.) Each player has 8000 Life Points, lost when monsters battle, through effects of said monsters and Spell and Trap Cards, or paying to use those effects. The typical way of winning is through depleting these Life Points to 0, though there are other ways - making your opponent run out of cards to draw is one and the other most prominent (at least in that it's in the rulebook), and the most notable besides that is assembling a certain set of five cards.

There's a lot more detail, of course, but it's probably the closest to simple I can get.

Dragoknight Luster Pendulum definitely saved the Duel with his Actual ATK Points™. Of course, if Naturia Beast was in Attack Position, that would be a problem...but I also drew Mirror Force, so eh.
