And now for really interesting bit, this really does happen. GM (and maybe a few other manufacturers) headlights are vented directly though the atmosphere and should the vent get screwed up, water condenses inside the headlight housing. This is a rather common problem that happens even on brand new vehicles, in fact I actually found out about this through looking up random Technical Service Bulletins on the 2014 Chevy Silverado. This case is a bit more extreme, but it can happen if you never inspect your car.
