Lost Legends

As Drachen turned, he would see David running through the bushes, entering the ruined village.

"Deyrey! David, get back here!" Lief ran after the (ex?-)spy. "If you're going to travel with us, stay with us!"

(swore in Dwarvish using this because I wanted to swear in Dwarvish)

As Lief entered the village he would notice Drachen and David, but also the village's condition, as well as hear a nearby scream coming from some rubble.

status:

"Be mad a David later, we've got bigger things to be concerned with!" Erin had come in after Lief, but had heard the scream.

She rushed over to the rubble and tried to clear it out.

As Erin struggled with the rubble, she managed to remove a rather large and heavy beam, allowing a middleaged human woman to crawl out from under the rubble. She immediately hugged her as she spoke with tears in her eyes, "T-they were everywhere...w-what did we do to deserve this?!"

Erin wasn't expecting to get hugged by the person she saved. But this was no time to really get upset about it.

Instead, Erin tried to talk to the women, "What's happening here? Whose attack you?"

As Zena entered the area she would be able to hear the woman's words, "T-the monsters...so many of them...why would they do this, we paid the tribute like always...why would they...there was nothing we could do...he's dead now isn't he, we were supposed to be married..." The woman stopped talking...at least intelligently as she became a crying mess...

Bunny time

Filled with sympathy towards the weeping woman, Zena came close and rubbed the woman's back (she was still clinging to Erin, so she couldn't really hug her.). Her voice soft and pitched, she comforted, "Ah, shhh. Shhh. Take it easy. Take deep breaths--there you go. That must have been awful! Here," gesturing towards a patch of grass a little ways away, Zena continued, "let me bring you to a more comfortable spot out of this rubble."

The woman nodded as she followed Zena to the grass patch and continued to speak once more, apparently having calmed down some. "Thank you. You should leave this place. Goblins, bugbears, kobolds, who knows what else, all came down from the mountains and attacked us. We had made peace with them...at least we thought we had. We gave them gold, they took it, and then didn't bother us. Now this...the town is in ruins....and he's..." It proved to difficult for her to carry on as a group of other survivors arrived. They wore tattered clothes, and were covered in injuries. The woman ran towards them the moment she saw them and frantically shouted, "Leon! Leon are you here!? Are you alive?!"

d-d-d-david time!

"Sorry for leaving, I just do that whenever I hear screams" David said in reply to Lief. Then David turned to the woman, and told her "I not sure who Leon is, but I assure you he's probably alright." Finally David turned to the mysterious dragonborn in front of them, and said: "Who are you, and why are you here? You seem pretty suspicious to me to be here before anyone else..."

The woman ignored David as she continued to search the group.

Lief thought for a moment. "Madam, may I inquire as to who Leon is, and what this group he was part of was out for?"

(basically asking who Leon was and what the group was for in case I became too flowery)

The woman was too busy frantically searching through the people to notice Lief, instead a one armed man covered in blood stumbled over towards him.

"Leon, he was the sheriff, and as I'm sure you've heard from her blubbering, her fiancé. We were attacked by monsters and as for us...we are the only survivors from the ra-"

He was cut off by the sound of a loud horn filling the area and everyone ran off screaming save for the man speaking with Lief."

"Damn it, already?! T-they want us to grant them tribute again even after they just attacked us?!"

Erin blinked, "Wait, tributes? The monsters are making you sacrifice your town members!?"

"N-n-no that's not what they want. Our village is full of miners, we would find gems, gold, ore, and the monsters demanded we pay them for our own safety...We don't pay, they attack, only this time...we paid, but the attack still came..."

The horn filled the area with its sound as the man began to fidget, unsure of what to do.
