honestly, I think it's stupid that school was cancelled today. The roads are clear, there's no snow, and it is just overall stupid. I mean, seriously? It's rediculous.

and what does that mean, greece? if we have too many snow days, the days missed get added on to the end of the year...

I think it was really icey earlier

they can only keep us for so long in summer, so they have to eventually just cut the days. it's happened almost every year

The problem was in fact, everything in Loudoun County was iced over. One of the worst mistakes you can make is assume ice won't be a problem.

I know ice is dangerous, but like my father said, the roads were clear. We've driven in ice, we know ice. I don't like ice. Ice is dangerous. But the roads were clear for us.

When did you guys wake up?

I didn't until 10 and by that point school would have to had been cancelled.

Are you sure you know ice is dangerous? Just because you don't see any ice doesn't mean there isn't ice. And just because conditions are good in your town doesn't mean conditions are good elsewhere in the county. Loudoun County is a very good example of this. More often than not, whatever Western Loudoun (which is rural as compared to the suburban sprawl of Eastern Loudoun) gets determines if there is school.

I think I became conscious around 7 or 8, but stayed in bed for about another hour or two.

I woke up around 7AM, which is odd cuz I stayed up pretty late last night because we already knew quite early in the day yesterday school was cancelled today :B

We still haven't gotten as much snow as I'd hoped though, we were supposed to get 14 inches but right now we only have a little over half that   

Woke up around 11ish. Got out of bed early 12.

Truth- I am sure. I understand your area got hit bad, but I don't know if my county should have closed. Black ice is particularly tricky, and I've slipped on it many times in my living time of Upstate New York, and there was plenty of ice to slide around with in Utah (Ice Blocking was a fun activity that I actually never attempted...it included sliding down a hill on a large block of ice. I wasn't too impressed, though it may have been fun...).
I do admit that I woke up at a time when most ice would have been cleared, and I do recall examining the beautifully frozen trees in my front and back yards, so there was a good ice over. But the roads looked clear and safe, and I am pretty good at seeing ice as I've learned what black ice looks like. But the county did do well in playing it safe-many people can't drive safely on snow and ice, and that's understandable-they didn't come from Upstate New York!   

It was probably worse early and they couldn't clean it up in time for school.
