Lets Player Lux and the Curious Village
a few notes before I begin: This is a series which I truly love, and feel the story should be shared for all. Please no posting unmarked spoilers as some people perhaps have never heard the tale before, and I don't want it ruined for them. Also, I will try to keep the text the same way it is in the game, but since I'm also here to entertain, I will add my two bits in blue

- Part 1: On the Road:
- Cutscene 1:
Up there we see the main characters! The cool guy with the top hat is the one and only Professor Hershel Layton, one of my role models :D. The snot nosed brat dressed in blue next to him is Luke, a kid I despise!...Okay I don't hate him, I'm just jealous that he gets to be the Professor's sidekick T~T
Layton: Luke, my boy, do you really think I would take on such an ordinary request as that? Oh, no! This is an altogether unique and exciting situation, and it has piqued my intellectual curiosity. But I suppose it would be best to explain the case before we arrive at our destination. You tell him Prof! There's no way you'd do something so...mundane
Layton: Shortly after his death, his will was disclosed. The contents of it were fascinating, to say the least.
Layton: To whomever successfully locates this treasure, I offer the whole of my estate." Naturally, those who attended the reading of the will immediately set out in search of the Golden Apple. But in the end, everybody came back empty handed. It turns out that no one had even heard of such a treasure existing until its mention in the will.
Luke: Wow, that's some puzzle, all right. Gee thanks, Sir Pointsouttheobviousalot
Layton: Quite. Augustus Reinhold staked his entire fortune just to create one more puzzle before his death. What a perplexing individual. I wish I could have met him while he was still alive.
Luke: It certainly sounds like you two would've gotten along, Professor! By the way, just what is this Golden Apple anyhow? I think its a tastey fruit
Layton: Some speculate it's a rare antique, while others say it could be a gem, yet its identity remains elusive. But, Luke, I can't shake the feeling that this matter is linked to some larger mystery. Something huge.
Luke: Aha! Is that your famous intuition acting up again Professor?
Layton: Mm. Well, our first step is getting to town. That would be a good idea
Luke: This is all so exciting! I hope St. Mystere is ready for the famous archeologist and puzzle-solving detective, Hershel Layton!
Layton: Ha ha! Oh, Luke, you know as well as I do that I am no detective. Augustus Reinhold's wife, Lady Dahlia, has asked me to investigate the situation. It seems she came across my name by chance when reading an article about me in the papers. That's right, an archeologist/puzzle-solver was in the newspaper. Deal with it
Luke: And you immediately decided to take her up on her request, eh? What are you implying?
Layton: Ho ho! Well, Luke, a true gentleman never refuses the request of a beautiful lady. Ooooooh.....heheheheheh
Luke: If you say so, Professor...
Layton: We should be nearing the town by now. Look at the map in the envelope and help me with directions.
Luke: You got it!
Layton: Lady Dhalia seems to have given us a test. We'll need to decipher this map in order to find the village. she wants to see if we're capable of cracking the mystery surrounding the Reinhold fortune. Care to give it a go, Luke?
Luke: I'll do my best! A puzzle like this should be a snap for the apprentice of the great Professor Layton.
Layton: Very well then, Luke. I'll leave this one to you. Think of it as a warm-up for things to come. Foreshadowing much?
PUZZLE NO. 001: Where's the Town? Picarat Value: 10
So this is how we're gonna do this, since its no fun watching someone solve puzzles, I'll leave some of them to you guys! To solve a puzzle like this, you can copy/paste the image into a drawing program then add the circle, and upload it. Then to submit it, just post it in the thread but spoiler it and mark the spoiler as "answer to puzzle xxx" where xxx is the number of the puzzle. So then, get to it, solve this puzzle!

Well, because I'm lazy and don't want to use my clipboard slot:
- The answer to puzzle XX1 is:
- The town marked by the houses with red roofs.

Ooooo.... This should be fun! But yeah, this first puzzle is a bit too easy. My answer is the same as Lief's.

It's the first puzzle of the game, it's supposed to be easy.

Re: Lets Player Lux and the Curious Village: Part 5
Picarats are just the game's way of showing difficulty :I
they do nothing during the story, but in the bonus screen you can unlock profiles, music, videos etc. by having tons of picarats. You get picarats by solving puzzles, though getting the puzzle wrong lowers the amount you can get when you get it right so its best to not wildly guess :I

- Part 2: Swim Across? No.:
Puzzle 001 Answer:- Standings:
Lief: 10 Picarats
Jokool: 9 Picarats
What's this? Oh, I decided to have some fun with this~ The puzzles I leave you guys, well, the first person to answer correctly gets the picarats! Oh, and there's a special reward for the person who has the most at a certain point~
Luke: There we go! Now we should be able to make our way to the village.
Layton: Right you are. We should see it on the horizon any moment now.
Luke: Huh? Professor, do you mean to say that you already figured out the town's location?
Layton: Ha ha ha! I'm afraid I couldn't help myself. A basic puzzle like that is easy enough to solve with a glance. Anyhow, you'd best gather your things, Luke. We've arrived.
And so, welcome to the game that started it all!
Also, here is some music to get you in the feel for it!- Cutscene 2:
Luke: An we're stuck on the outside. What should we do, Professor? Can we throw Luke across?
Luke: Oh, look over there! There's a man standing on the other side of the river. Maybe he can help us.
And now to explain the mechanics! Its easy, tap on something to check it out, and if you tap on people, you can talk to them! So lets start off by talking to ol' tubby there
Layton: Good day, sir! We'd very much like to gain access to the village. Could you please drop the bridge for us?
Not sure what to say here, I could respon on how he does look like the type, I could also say thanks for the compliment, or do the usual "screw you too", but I think I'll instead be civilized and laugh at his double chin
Franco: Hrmph! You got a lot of nerve!
Layton: We received a letter of invitation from Lady Dahlia. I don't suppose that changes things, does it?
Franco: From Lady Dahlia? Well then, I'd sure like to lower the bridge for you, Mr. Fancypants... But the engine is busted, and I can only move this blasted bridge with the hand crank. Some physical excersize won't hurt you! Start cranking!
Franco: Hrmph! There's all these infernal slots I could put the crank in, but I got no clue which one to use...Isn't it your job to know which one?
Franco: Hrmph! So, smart guy, you got any idea which one is the right one? Um....no...but I think I know who does :D
PUZZLE NO. 002: The Crank and Slot Picarat Value: 15
So get to work and tell tubby which one! Don't forget to spoiler your answers :I

- Puzzle 2 answer:
- Hmmmm..... 1 and 2 looks very similar, but it looks like 2 is a bit wider at the Y part, so I'll say 1.

- wow look i have internet whoa:
- I'm gonna say three cuz if I'm right that'll give me picarats but if I'm wrong I would've picked one which everyone else already did anyway :I

Re: Lets Player Lux and the Curious Village: Part 5
thanks for all the support guys :D
I'll probably update tomorrow :I
also getting it wrong won't affect your picarats, just make you earn none right now, also thinking of tweaking my rules for counting picarats a bit: person who answers right first gets full amount, second person gets 10% less, and same with third, after that none, so gonna go back and give joey some picarats

- Part 3: Welcome to Town:
Puzzle 002 Answer:
It was 1 in case you can't tell- Standings:
Lief: 10 Picarats Hint Coins 1+15P and 1HC= 25 Picarats Hint Coins 2
Jokool: 9 Picarats Hint Coins 1+13P and 1HC= 22 Picarats Hint Coins 2
Truthseeker: 11 Picarats Hint Coins 1
Just a note, please don't edit your answer unless nobody has answered after you yet, instead make a new post saying you're changing your answer since it makes things easier on me :I
of course after that he says "Hrrmph!"
Franco: I'm gonna say it again, I just don't feel right about letting outsiders into St. Mystere. But if you're Lady Dahlia's guests, I guess I'd better. At least give her my regards, you hear? Wow, all this just for her? She must be pretty important....or just pretty- Cutscene 3:
Layton: Ha ha ha ha! Well, Luke, we'll find out soon enough. Just be careful not to let your excitement cloud your ability to analyze your surroundings.
He then explains how to move around the town, basically tap the shoe icon to make arrows appear then tap the arrows to move in that direction, so then lets try it out!
Well then, I tried to walk forwards but this guy got in my way! Maybe if I talk to him he'll let me through.
Stachen: Keh heh heh! What a dandy set of fellows you two are. Must be new to St. Mystere, eh? The name's Stachenscarfen, and I've got some advice for you. Go tap that barrel back there with your stylus. Don't ask questions! Just do it! So scared for my life, I go investigate the barrel
Stachen: keh heh heh! Felt good, didn't it! 'Round these parts, that's what we call a hint coin. When you find yourself up against a doozy of a puzzle, you'll want a hint. Trust me on this one, fellows. And it's just those times when you'll want to use a hint coin to purchase a hint. I bet you think puzzles will be a breeze now, eh? Thinkn again! There are a limited number of hint coins in this world! So don't go wasting coins on any old riddles. Because if you do, when you come across a real stumper, you'll be sorry! REEEAL sorry! Mind you, hint coins won't always be stuffed inside barrel. Check any object that seems suspicious. Got all that? Good. Be seeing you 'round.
He then goes away, but not before explaining about the glorious hint coins! You guys get hint coins too, only while I have to search every nook and cranny for them, you guys get one upon getting a riddle right, whether you would get picarats or not! -throws hint coins at people- If you wish to use one, just say so in the thread, but each puzzle has only 3 hints and your hint coin will be deducted from your amount. The hint will also be posted in the thread so if one person uses their coin, it benefits everyone! Lastly, hint coins have no cash value :I
Anyway, off to Reinghold Manor! But first I will talk with an old lady
Ingrid: Welcome to St. Mystere, where our local export is...the puzzle! Oh, before I forget, you should know that every time you solve a puzzle you ear a set number of picarats. The more picarats a puzzle is wroth, the tougher the puzzle will be. They say lovely things happen when you gather enough picarats. Imagine that, a reward for solving puzzles! For practice, try this little riddle that your hat reminded me of. Think good and hard before you answer. More explainations and tutorials, though I think I already explained what picarats will mean to us :D
PUZZLE NO. 003: Strange Hats Picarat Value: 10
.........GOTCHA! Didn't think I'd leave you another easy puzzle? This one is an optional one you can do to have fun, you'll have to wait a bit more to see the one which can earn you picarats :3
Anyway here's the solution to this easy puzzle- Puzzle No. 003 Answer:
So now I leave the granny and her words of wisdom and move onwards! Into more tutorials DX
I won't bore you with the details, basically Luke(of course) pesters the Professor by asking if we should be recording(saving) our adventure, Layton basically says, "Sure why not, I write stuff down in my journal in my trunk. Oh by the way, I have stuff in my trunk we can mess with." The trunk basically acts as the menu in the game where you can see a synopsis, and try out puzzles you've already solved, anyway, once talk of tutorials is over Luke and Layton agree that we should head towards Reinhold Manor!
The adventure is now basically out of tutorial mode so the puzzles will now start to get tricker. Though before we head towards we head to Reinhold Manor....we gotta find out where it is, so lets ask this fine fellow!
Percy: I'm Percy, St. Mystere's unofficial "writer in residence." Reinhold Manor, you ask? Head up that road to the right. It's Immense, so you'll know it when you see it. But before you go, why not try your hand at this puzzle I thought up? See if you can figure out which house is mine from the instructions I give you. I'll even sweeten the deal for you! If you manage to solve this puzzle, I'll tell you about this village. So, how about it? You will try, won't you? After all, a writer is nothing without an audience!
Now then, since a true gentleman leaves no puzzle unsolved....You guys will do it for me! :D
