You got any gold bars? Exchange them for money if you need to. Also, sell stuff you don't need. You can get a decent amount from garbage TMs and looplets. Gold Looplets in particular.

Hmm... I probably should do that. I've been hording a lot of stuff. Now I did manage to scrap together the money to do it. Now I have figure out how to get through Sand Dune of Spirits. With a Fennekin.

Normally they do, but usually it was just the last series's lady friend (Misty for Advance, May for DP, Dawn for BW; they skipped Iris because nobody liked her, I guess). Unless you also count the specials.

Brock isn't as huge, since he's appeared in every series but BW/XY (and even then he's appeared in BW's specials), but Misty hasn't actually appeared since Advance - she just got flashbacks and mentions.

Did they actually degrade the art style too?

I don't really follow the anime anymore after I dropped it during BW, but it does seem to be going downhill from what I've seen of it in recent years. Ash seems to be reverse aging with each new season (I swear, he looks like a 4 year old now), and it does feels like they are degrading the art style from the shots I've seen. On top of that...the clips I've seen feel like the anime is dumbed down heavily now and even more childish than it used to be.

Actually, I felt like the Kalos region (X and Y) was quite good as far as Pokemon anime goes (then again, I'm not a genwunner). Ash seemed far more mature than his BW self, almost like his character was a continuation of DP Ash, I liked the side characters far better, and the art and animation was the best it's ever been. I want to finish it (I'm in the 90s episodes). Black and White was so notorious for being horrible, they fired the writers from the show if I recall correctly.

I don't know how the Alola region is going, though.

Okay, that is good to hear about XY. I hadn't seen much of it, so I wasn't sure if it went the same direction as the other recent entries.
