If I remember correctly, Duel Monsters was originally more of a role-playing game-card game hybrid, before they changed it to the card game we know and love today.

Which explains about 95% of the weird moves in the early manga and anime.

Also it was kind of confusing. For example, "Maiku the Magical Mist" had "Water vapor surrounds the field." as its effect. This was vague enough to have a few different effects: making Great Moth's attack-draining poison spores ineffective, powering up Summoned Skull's lightning attack, weakening Machine-type monsters, and making Thousand Dragon unable to attack. There is a reason why they changed the rules.

Dungeon Dice Monsters is almost completely unrelated. Heck, in the original manga, it was completely unrelated!

well it's been a long time since I watched the classic anime, let alone the DDD arc, so yeah.

Oh! And! jokool! You know how you disliked the invention of Pendulum Summons in the anime because it seemed like an Ass Pull?

Funny you should mention that. I was thinking that would fit perfectly in that trope.

In the original manga (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist), at least, Dark Bakura's surprisingly not a huge dick.

I mean, he's still a dick, but he isn't a huge one.

Rewatching the Yu-Gi-Oh anime reminds me how much of a dick Weevil is.

In other Yugi news: The Abridged Series begins it's 4th season next week!

One of my least favorite things about the anime is that Joey keeps on making mistakes that could be averted if he could look at the attack power of the enemy cards.

So I went onto Dueling Network and got slapped in the face by the new Limited List. Especially a particular lack of one i.e. Mirror Force.

Anyway I'm on Dueling Network 'cause I want to duel. Anyone want to join?
