yes.

You need both Zekrom and Reshiram for Kyurem to show up.

Nope.

You don't actually need to catch Kyurem. The Splicers are just hidden in its cave.

You can, however, obtain a Shiny Reshiram or Zekrom from ORAS's Mirage Spots. I mean, it's the same probability as a regular shiny, but still.

Well, at least they're obtainable now. They look cool shiny.

Allegedly (i.e. I got this from TV Tropes) they did it to prevent the contrasting image of a non-Shiny, say, Zekrom in a cutscene but then bam! Shiny encounter.

Don't ask me why they only started doing this when they started modeling Pokémon.

I figured that was why they did it, but you gotta wonder why they didn't do it for the other games that have legends in cutscenes (like Ho-Oh and Lugia in HG/SS).

You don't have to catch of the weather trio in Emerald, in fact you aren't even told to go catch them. As for ORAS, only Rayquaza is a forced capture. In XY, the mascots are forced capture just like in BW, right down to being put in your party.

all 3 of them are forced captures, as twitch plays pokemon
1. ran away
2. defeated it
3. blacked out
and GROUDON kept respawning.
they caught it on their 4th try.
and I know that about emerald.

And you're sure that wasn't added into the game so that they didn't have to go to the Pokémon League to trigger the respawn?

yes, as this was day 4, they reached the league in day 6.
