I don't think we should go about contrasting tragedies. We can't say one terrorist attack is "more tragic" than another. It's disrespectful and damages the seriousness of any unjust loss of human life.

France has done very well in controlling the attacks and the aftermath so far. It's obvious the attacks were deliberately planned to disorient any victims and first-responders, but after the initial strikes the French government, public, and police force have all shown considerable bravery and skill in controlling the situation.

Let's hope we can parse out the motivations and conspirators behind the attacks so we can get a full view of the situation. Best wishes to Paris tonight.

All of the directly-involved attackers are believed to be dead. Accomplices may still be at large.

So the toll right now stands at 128 and is expected to change. I've heard theories that it could be as high as 200.

It's probably worth keeping an eye on the news for a while because of this.

Personally, I think Turkey might have been a little too happy on the trigger and Russia could very easily decide to retaliate.

A lot of people were happy to jump on the whole, "it'll be the start of world war III" bandwagon, which I don't agree with. It adds tension but at least from what I know, I think a whole world war would have to have more leverage (if that's the right word) now because of the knowledge of how much more impactful it would be to the whole of the world.

True, though as I look over the radar data, it does not appear that the Russian jet was actually over Turkey for very long. Not saying that is all my opinion is based off of, but it is worth noting anyway.

Given the events of the past two years in the region, it's definitely a powder keg over there, waiting for the right spark.
