Okay, so if we each have 100 HP, our moves should probably have a set amount of damage, ranging from 2 to 10, or maybe 8? Maybe we can roll a 10 sided die. 1 is a merely a flesh wound while 9 and 10 are crits? Should I make myself a move pool real quick, because I have a great idea. Of course, there can be status ailments as well, like blind or stunned.

That sounds interesting, a 10 sided die to determine the severity of damage, with perhaps a roll of 2 or less being a miss?

I like it.
One other suggestion: Maybe have just a limited number of moves (maybe 4 like in Pokémon) with different effects since damage is determined by dice rolls.

If we do have status ailments, maybe the roll could determine the duration of said ailments--like 3-4 is for 1 turn, 5-6 2 turns, 7-8 3 turns, 9-10 (crit) 5 turns plus 2 damage? 1-2 is a miss, clearly.
