One should be very, very careful when lifting one of the new GMC Sierra 3500s. Coworker of mine racked one up in what he thought was a secure fashion (and I likely would've done the same procedure he did), got a few inches off the ground, then the truck kicked the lift out on its own and the 9,000 pounds that is this $80,000 truck came crashing down.

I suspect the front suspension, a design known as Torsion Bar for the long bars that run a quarter of the way down the truck, doesn't have the same clearance as older trucks. Therefore the contact pads of the lift must be carefully positioned on the frame or they will come into contact with the bars. The bars probably pushed the pads out of the way just before the lift took the full weight of the truck in the front. Gravity does the rest, pretty scary when that happens right next to you.

Thankfully the only damage was the passenger side running board was slightly bent and we straightened it.

Michelle Ruff, probably best known here as the English voice of Bleach's Rukia, has a long rap sheet including anime, television, and even games. Me and jokool found this out because I recognized her voice while playing Saints Row III.
