Re: Post Your Art
I doodled Stevonnie in class yesterday for some reason, and it actually turned out okay, coming from someone who's never drawn much more than geometrical shapes in the margins of my homework before. So I decided to try out some art!
It's... literally all just doodles of Stevonnie, because I just feel really comfortable drawing them, but never mind that. :p
If anyone has some recommendations on where to go if I want to learn to art, I'm all ears. I've literally just been feeling around in the dark here, but I kinda wanna get serious about it soon. :V

- these start out really terrible i'm sorry. they become slightly less terrible over time:
- this one is the most terrible. it was the first and i was just trying to get used to sai:
- this one's slightly better?:
- first attempt at coloring!?:
- another attempt at coloring:
- *gasp!* Stevonnie has a neck! I can draw a neck!:
- full body art!? what is anatomy! proportions are meaningless!:
- i spent the longest on this one, i did it a few hours ago. i was trying to simulate line weight using the eraser tool, since i don't have a drawing tablet:

Re: Post Your Art
love how you got progressively better xD
What I do to improve are:
1) Practice (duh) 10,000 hours of practice will let anyone become exceptional at something
2) Watch speed drawings and art streams, sometimes watching how others approach certain things can help you learn new tricks
3)Art academy games
4) Random tidbits on tumblr :V

I've mentioned him before, but you should definitely check out Mark Crilley's Youtube channel. He has a ton of great how to draw videos and has a ton of excellent advice for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills.

Did some Miiverse doodles :V
- First is Angel wiping off King Frost's Smirk:
Smirk's a status that makes your moves always deal critical hits (even if they couldn't normally), and powers up King Frost's King's Bufula skill even more. What it does, I couldn't tell you, because...well, Magaon. It removes Smirk.
- Navarre:
Navarre's a ghost dude who can be your buff buddy. He can shut down the enemy phase in combat, shown here, and wig out on your foes, while helping you. Even more.
Buff bros are best bros. (all partners in SMTIVA can do this, but Navarre is, to my knowledge, the only Buff Bro.)
- Old, but Ranger:
The funny thing is that I think this is still the most Yeah'd drawing in the Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia community.
- Happy (very late) birthday, Sakurai!:
This was actually posted on Sakurai's birthday.
Pictured: Masahiro Sakurai (alias Spooky), from Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers.
Not pictured: Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros. director.

Re: Post Your Art
I can definitely claim that art streams do help. I personally watch Elentori (who is live right now, by the way) quite often. I also watch the following if I can: tsaoshin, Aerorwen (<3), Phaisty, Kinsei, basically any stream that is going on that I notice by people I watch on dA or tumblr. Speedpaints are also good. WalkingMelons
Which leads me to another thing.
Look at art you admire/find an artist whose art and/or advise is appealing to you in some way. I find that just looking at art, taking in the details, observing how they do lighting, etc. is really helpful.
And to turn that around--the number one advise I hear from any artist, and from all artists I have followed, is to look at real life references. I don't do this enough. Senshistock has some good poses you can go through and all that jazz.
Otherwise, all I can say is-- the artistic journey is both wonderful and horrible. As you learn more, as you make observations, you will see flaws in your own art. The most important thing in this instance is to not hate your art or give up. Understand that you are learning-- if you are not happy with your art, that is a learning opportunity, and you've come to recognize something new. Here's the image of what I'm thinking about:

Re: Post Your Art
It's basically a challenge to draw everyday for October with some sort of ink.
Basically, pen drawings! Everyday, all October!

Hmmm... I've been wanting to draw more. Maybe something like this will motivate me.

The line work you did makes it feel a lot more warm and friendly (maybe childlike?) then the original and I really really like it!

Re: Post Your Art
By contrast, the thing I did today is absolute trash. Mostly because I couldn't finish it.
