I found out that elixer items are bugged, which I never use anyway. and so is the mistranslated move that we know of as rest (which could mean I need to grind high level pokemon to take out red's snorlax in one hit before he uses the move).

I almost always traded for Muscles the Machop and had her on my team all the way to Mt. Silver. She'd be good against Red's Snorlax.
