Fun Fact: Congress's salary only changes when they make it change (I'll see if I can look up the last time it changed) and it doesn't take effect until the next session of Congress. So that view is a bit inaccurate if you take at face value.

Fun fact: I don't understand any of this. These things shouldn't be that complicated. T_T

If they didn't ignore one of the core elements of Democracy (Compromise, this country is built on many of them and so is Democracy), things shouldn't be this complicated.

I hadn't even heard about it until someone asked about it in my history class. The teacher said the same sort of thing happened when he was in high school and it lasted for around twenty days.

On a completely unrelated subject, Truthseeker, I believe there's spam in the QT.

Huh, funny how it's about cheap eyeglasses since I was with my grandma checking out new glasses for her this afternoon.

Also happening earlier today was the purchase of a new-used car!

Well from the looks of things, the reason the government is staying shut down is the Senate doesn't want to come to work. From what I gathered from Outlining the Constitution, they can keep it up for 3 days, then the President can force them to come in. Just one problem though, the Senate is controlled by the Democrats and the President doesn't think they're the ones at fault, he blames the Republican controlled House, which is coming to work.
