The Final Fantasy Legend, more commonly referred to as Final Fantasy Legend because nobody likes the word "the", is a game with an identity crisis. It was created as SaGa in Japan. However, in America, Squaresoft decided that dubbing it "The Final Fantasy Legend" would increase its sales while making sure nobody mistook it as Final Fantasy II. Which is good, because there is not much in common with FFI and FFL. (I mean, FFII was pretty different from FFI, too. But it used the same engine. ...I don't know where I was trying to get with that.)

We start the game by crafting the party leader. It's as simple as choosing the race of him/her and entering his/her four-character name. The races are as follows:- Spoiler:
- Humans - These are your typical warrior characters. They can use no special skills, but have the most equipment slots. Their method of gaining stats is using purchasable items that raise them.
Mutants - Born of the mating of a friendly monster and a human (squick), these demipeople have less equipment slots then humans, but can use books of spells (or something) and can learn special skills after battle. Their method of gaining stats is having them increase randomnly after battles. Typical mage characters.
Monsters - Not all monsters are evil! These guys have no equipment slots, but rather the abilities of them vary upon what species of monster they are. Their method of gaining stats is by eating leftover monster meat after battle, which also changes the monster species. I think that, in this game, the monster species can't "level down", which makes it a little easier on me. Still, I would prefer if the party leader wasn't an enigma to me.
And yes, there are no levels.
For the party leader, the monster choices are instead Clipper, Redbull, Wererat, and Zombie, as the party leader is marginally stronger then the initial recruits. They could (probably) be recruited later, though.
For this little "demo", I'll be using a male human named Lief.
This is a vital place.
It's where you get your other party members.
Lima, TS, and Cha[o]s, from second down. Lima and Chas are Mutants, while TS is a goblin.
This is where the demo ends! If you want to be a different species, tell me. If you don't want to be used, tell me and offer up a different character. A different party leader is also welcome, but please, do not make him a monster! A different four-characterization is also welcome, as well as if you want to offer yourself up as a party member. Reserves are also needed, for reasons that will become clear later.

As a note: species changes and the like will go until Wednesday, when the LP will officially start. Reserve character additions will go to the end of the LP.

...fuck, I just realized something. The party leader (the character created at the start of the game) is slightly stronger then the guys at the guild. Because of this and how monsters work, the monsters shown at the start aren't the same as the monsters that can be recruited (therefore the reserves). Whoops.
