Today was a living nightmare for me. Before the day even started, I knew it was going to be a long day because my order for the dairy department was fairly larger than my usual order. The reason being because last week, the big boss came in and wasn't happy with how many "holes" I had in my department the day after we had a truck (holes meaning empty spots where things like cheese and butter should be). So yeah, extra large order to hopefully cover any "holes" this week.

Anyway, when the truck arrived (fortunately, not nearly as late as the last one was), I went to start unloading it. The first pallet I pull out, the one behind it makes a loud CRASH!!!

...it's my dairy order...all over the floor of the truck because the warehouse barely wrapped it and stacked it poorly (as usual)...

...on top of that, on another pallet...buried under heavy meat items...are my milk and eggs....smashed... So yeah, not a good start.

So insert everyone scrambling to get everything off the floor of the truck and onto a cart, then getting the rest of the truck unloaded.

After that, things start getting back to normal somewhat. Except for the fact that we have triple the normal flow of customers today (food stamps were sent out today), so insert everyone scrambling to check out and sack groceries while trying to put up a truck...

Lunch break was non-existent for me, and I ended up just grabbing my lunch from my grandma in a hurry and throwing it in a cooler. By the time I finally had a chance to even touch it, my hot pocket was a cold pocket. And I still didn't have time to eat it, so insert me trying to eat it in like 2 bites or so before rushing back to more carry outs...

Now it's about an hour or so before I have to clock out. There's still dairy to put up...and I'm still scrambling around doing a million things at once. I had help with putting things up, but I get a few more things thrown my way, scramble to do them, and try to jump back on dairy... My heart is pounding out of my chest at this point and I had just about reached my breaking point...

30 minutes to go, and still a lot of dairy to put up...a feed truck pulls up...and apparently, one of my managers felt like I should go help unload a few tons of feed...

...and that's when I snapped.

I think I said something along the lines of "I have all this dairy that still needs to go up, and now I have to unload feed? I can't do the work of 5 people! I'm done!"

I turned around, went to clock out, and simply walked out of the store and down the street, throwing my name tag down along the way.

...and I kept walking...

Called my grandma, who was already on her way to pick me up since it was nearly time for me to go home anyway, and asked her to come asap.

...and I kept walking...

By the time I see her driving up, I'm well outside of town and down the highway...heart still pounding, head hurting, having trouble breathing from an asthma attack (forgot my inhaler...), and about ready to cry...

I had had it with that job, and I honestly never wanted to see that store...or another gallon of milk...again.

After getting home though, I calmed down, and I know I need that job. I mean, where else can I go? So hopefully I still have it tomorrow when I go in...
