What does a White Wizard do?

It's a White Mage 2.0 - they have better healing spells and the White Mage's best offensive spells, Diaja and Holy (which is their only offensive spell that can affect non-undeads and may or may or may not otherwise be the exact same as Diaja).

Fiiiiiiiinally beat the first Final Fantasy!

Huzzah!         I could've made different little gifs for each of the members of the party but that would require me not being lazy.

I have not! But they're pretty hard. Especially II, which has a "level up stats and spells as you use them" system (this includes hit numbers). Also the DS version - which is the only version I have access to - has the developers actively make it harder: enemy hit points are increased (including (or at least) the humble goblin's)), and one boss's - which is That One Boss - hit points are doubled, MP is reduced (it uses an "x casts per spell level" system), the best jobs (Ninja and Sage) are nerfed (Ninjas can't equip every weapon, and Sages, while still able to use every type of magic, can only invoke the two basic types of summon magic, which are still randomly picked) and most, if not all bosses, attack twice per round. The final boss has two helpers, rather then being alone, one of which is immune to physical attacks and one of which is immune to magic. And the actual boss still has two actions.

Ow. Sounds fun.

Uh, no, because Kingdom Hearts ≠ Final Fantasy. I mean, we have a different thread for Bravely Default, and that's even closer to Final Fantasy!

So I've started thinking maybe I should actually learn some of the ins and outs of a RPG the old fashioned way. That is to say blindly wander around in a franchise I know next to nothing about and do a let's play of it at the same time.

So Lief, which Final Fantasy game do you recommend for a complete newb?

Probably Final Fantasy IV. It's pretty simple, you don't have to do anything special to learn magic (just level up like in Pokémon), you don't need to level grind too much (unless you're playing the DS version...), and you should have a fairly good grip on where to go next for the plot.

I may be skipping FFII. It's really getting on my nerves, and I've barely done anything...

I really don't like the level up system in this one. I also don't like how if you talk to almost anyone, it'll prompt you to ask them something or take a key word (which there never was in the part I was in). I also don't get the stats, like....well this for example which really confused me: Giving a shield to my characters lowers their attack and does nothing to their defense...

I also accidentally found out that I could attack my party members when I was selecting the enemy to attack, then accidentally selected one of the guys. He was instantly KOed. For fun, I decided to see if it was possible to kill myself, and it turns out it is. It was at this point that I quit the game.
