Re: The Crystal Room
It depends, the game can be a little tedious for the two Chapters, and the characters can be dis likable until they get development later. The game is also pretty lingerer until chapter 11.

Re: The Crystal Room
The main question is what do you want from this game, because this game is story over gameplay.
I personally liked it, I liked the story and enjoyed the gameplay enough. That said the gameplay has a few problems, and if you're looking for the game it mix it's self up it won't.
That and nothing happens for the first few chapters so you have to power through it a bit.

in what aspect, because 2 fixed game play and 3 was too different to really compare beyond personal preference

Re: The Crystal Room
in general.
I might get XI soon for my pc, seeing as how my 360 won't be able to play it with the servers shutting down for 360 and ps2 soon.

Re: The Crystal Room
XIII would probably good for storiphiles like you, Jack.
"Fixing gameplay" is also debatable because you didn't have to Paradigm Shift nearly as often. On the other hand, you could team up with a behemoth... But the monster level-up system was a bit of a pain, in that it was like the Sphere Grid except as your monsters grew they needed materials which were harder to find which was a pain. And then there was specific materials for specific types of monsters...
Lightning Returns was shitty. Schemata-Time Battle was a pain, you were penalized from running away from battles on difficulties higher than Easy, said battles were...more necessary than Sticker Star's, but that's not hard to do, and you still don't need them a lot. But you couldn't just say "fuck it, I'm not in the mood/my HP is low and I don't have enough EP for Curaga or any Potions, fuck this" because you made the game shorter by running away.
XIII-2 had a shitty story that had to pull conflict out of nowhere in order for there to be one, in the process fucking up XIII's ending.Greece wrote:in what aspect, because 2 fixed game play and 3 was too different to really compare beyond personal preference

I should have specified that I mean they fixed the cheapness in the game play from XIII as posing takes no time so you're not going to get killed switching to a heal set up and if a leader dies you can switch to the other, which is an immense step up from the last game, because then you can actually use raise to it;s full potential.

Again, LR is to different from the other and it really comes down to personal preference a bit more. I honestly liked the battle system because I play plenty of Action JRPGs, it was no where near the best or perfect, but I enjoyed it. The penalization from running from battles was negligible in the end; you had plenty of time to take care of your daily goals and sometimes you had too much time and you needed to kill it by going to inns.

Re: The Crystal Room
"Storiphile" is my new favorite word. As a matter of fact, I've had my eyes on Bravely Default based alone on how fun the combat is, judging by the demo I've had for freakin' years now. Anyway, the fact that an Xbox 360 game is split onto 3 discs is really intimidating, but also really exciting, to me. Maybe I'll crack it open and see if it grabs me. Seriously, 3 discs?! Who does that?!
Also, I've been thinking about maybe getting a Vita, so if I maybe get a Vita, I might maybe get X/X-2 HD Remaster Extravaganzapalooza or whatever it's called. I could easily track down X for my PS2, but is there anything I need to know on that? (Again, despite owning V, VI, and XIII, I still have not played a Final Fantasy game. If I add X and X-2 to that this is gonna get really ridiculous.)

Re: The Crystal Room
So Guys I've been thinking about XIV, I've already used my free trial and failed to play anything(That was my computers fault) But now I have a new computer! The internet where I am right now isn't the best, I can still play stuff but the download time is terrible so I was thinking of finding a psychical copy of ARR. Now I know That I'll still have to spend twenty hours updating it, but I was wondering if any of you guys know, do I have to have a copy of base XIV before installing ARR? or is all the base stuff in ARR?

Re: The Crystal Room
For all intents and purposes, A Realm Reborn is the new base FFXIV.
