Wait, what would they be holding elections for? Do they just hold elections for teh lulz?

Usually local office positions, such spots on a board of supervisors, mayor, sheriff and many positions you probably weren't aware you could run for or even existed.

As an example of what happens on a state level, Virginia elects the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General all on odd years. Not all states do this though.

We're having an election for a governor where I live. so many phone calls

Our area has an election or something else to vote for at least once a year or so. This year, we had to vote three times (or my grandma did anyway; one time, there wasn't anything for Republicans to vote for, so I didn't get to vote).

Some times, there's just a school election, so we don't get to vote.

On a different note, it's interesting how few of our members can vote... *is feeling old again*

@Greece: Same here. Feels like yesterday that we just elected a new Governor too. And yes, our phone has been ringing nonstop over the past few weeks as well...

My favorite phone call was a voice recording of some guy saying he wanted to 'personally' ask 'us' to go vote for him today

Are you sure that it will be the fourth again? Also I think you can register even if you're not 18 at that time as long as you will be 18 by the day of the election.

That reminds me, when I got around to the front of my elementary school I spotted a suited man next to the secondary entrance, the one closest to the poll booths. I didn't want to go near him because I knew what he was there to do. So I ducked into the main entrance of the school and found to my delight the doors were unlocked.
