That sounds more ludicrous than camping, Lief. My school system has gotten quite a bit of budget cutting over the past few years, and it usually hits Transportation the hardest. Field trips now must pay for the bus driver, the fuel, the administrative costs, and what not. If my school had ties to the railroad industry in some way (i.e. Boiler Making) then maybe, but we don't so...

Plus it's on a weekend, my school system very rarely does weekend field trips.

Got my first paycheck in a year today!

I ordered EOIII yesterday and it should be here within a week.

I managed to impress my grandpa with my driving! Instead of driving my uncle's sports car today, my grandpa had me drive his mid-sized SUV. I guess they wanted me to have practice with an automatic since I'm presently looking at buying an automatic sedan. It's also a lot bigger than my uncle's car so there's that practice too. I ended up driving on many of the back roads in my grandpa's town and my town.

They were apparently expecting me to be really jumpy on the throttle and while I did give it a bit too much throttle too soon a couple times, for the most part my acceleration was smooth and my braking wasn't too bad. Though I suppose they don't know I've gotten a fair bit of practice at school driving a Safari van with the torquey 4.3L V6. I did make two errors though. First one I started drifting through an intersection because I was following a Silverado that was cutting lanes through the intersection. The second, I chose to try and speed up through a yellow left turn light, but my grandpa told me not to and did stop just slightly over the line. Parking at the end was also a bit botched, but I managed to salvage it after two attempts.

Still not bad for someone with probably less than 40 hours of experience.

I got to use a dynamometer today to see if the Chrysler 300M I'm interested in buying has a fully working transmission and it worked through all four gears! So now as long as the principal of my school permits the sale of the car, then I can start fixing it up. So far I've got a little over $400 in needed parts and fluids, but when all is said and done, I would have invested a little under $1,000 dollars into this car, a much better deal than what I have seen elsewhere.
