Yeah. You'll wanna unlock the Support Abilities and Job Commands other classes provide, at least. Try sticking to classes that fill at least a vaguely similar role or have similar stats to the one you're already using.

It would probably be a good idea.

I'd recommend Mystic Knight for one of your physical attackers. Hitting a weakness nets you a good 150% bonus to your attacks.

There are a few alternate outfits you can get later on if you like a class's skills and shit but not their looks.

Which is good, because there's a certain class that basically wears a medieval fursuit.
