I was referring a similar one to the first one, but the latter also gives me a clue. It seems that your antivirus program (or a site blockers that parents sometimes use to restrict their kid's use of the internet) is blocking a connection attempt to one of the Minecraft servers. It is noteworthy that the launcher isn't having trouble getting the files. If it was, then it would show 10 error messages basically saying the download failed and then attempt to start up the game anyway exactly like it does if you are playing offline.

Well then, I guess I was looking for the Development tab of the launcher.

Example:

Though if my suspicions are correct, you're not making it past the point of the launcher screen. If one monitored that log while booting up the game, then you would see what the game does in the background past this point. In my case, it's a shit ton and a half of Forge whining with none of the errors/complaints being serious enough to crash the game.

I forgot to relay the most part of my day yesterday. We are in the middle of another engine swap, this time with a Sliverado. We don't know exactly what happened inside the old engine, but there's a hole in the oil pan and the engine refuses to turn, suggesting that she threw a rod.

Or at least there used to be a hole in the pan. The truck has a V8 and is four wheel drive, meaning a massive engine has to come up and over a front differential. Because the engine is locked up, it has to be pulled out with the torque converter still attached. Remember that front diff? We couldn't get enough clearance to pull the engine out far enough so instead of pulling out the front diff, my teacher picked up a hammer and started smashing the snagging oil pan to pieces.

He went at with such ferocity that was like it did something to his wife and the pan was just falling apart under the blows.

But that's not the only thing that was amazing, over the past two weeks we've been stripping some of our older vehicles for scraping. Today we started shipping out a Dodge Grand Caravan, one of the biggest minivans (Assuming it doesn't count as a full sized one) I've ever seen. Adding to the fun was that we took the wheels off to reuse the tires, meaning we had to back the trailer under the van still on the lift. From there there was a lot of careful use of four jacks. When the full weight of the van got on the trailer, it nearly bottomed out the suspension on my teacher's SUV (90's Jeep Grand Cherokee). We still had to get the jacks out from under the van so we brought in the school's forklift tractor. That van rocked around all over the place in the process and it's really a sight that it's very hard to describe.

Your launcher is outdated.

How do you update your launcher? I thought they did that automatically?

Your launcher should update automatically. Just try downloading and reinstalling it anyway.

ah, now that I look at it, I see it is... :I but we've tried redownloading before. Do I have to delete the actual Minecraft folder to reinstall it? And will that delete our worlds on this computer? (I'm telling you, it had been up to date before...I don't know why it suddenly down graded...)

If you're concerned about your worlds, manually go into your hard drive (hint, Minecraft itself is in the hidden folder named Appdata and in the subfolder roaming) and copy the files over to another location. Otherwise I would just try downloading and running the installer.

So, every time I try to redownload minecraft, it uses the out of date launcher...

Today was a long day. I was scheduled to work from 6 A.M. to 1 P.M., but someone called in sick, so I volunteered to cover for them. All told, I worked around 11 hours today (6 A.M. to 5:30 P.M with a break in the middle).

It was a bit hectic, but not all bad, and it was fun helping out all the people who were heading to the lake for Memorial Day.
