By the way, what does Darkness do? I think that's the only status I have no about....

I have no idea why they used Darkness for it, because it doesn't give you a clue as to what it does...but it causes your Hit% and Evade to drop by 40 each. So Biggs and Lief's Hit% would be 215, for example.
