Yes, virtually all (there are exceptions, though they are treated as stupid) spiritually aware beings have this sense. If it helps, I treat Aura as the same thing as Spirit Energy.

Actually, not in this case. I'm not carrying any machines on me, let alone tools. Zanpakutō are sentient beings, even though they appear to be tools. It's not unheard of for the Zanpakutō's Spirit to manifest itself (not always to everyone) and act as the master's eyes and ears when the master is experiencing an illusion. The spirit does not have to be manifested in order to "talk" with its master. This is fairly common knowledge to most Soul Reapers and a few other spiritually aware beings.

There was a post about machines?

Lux asked a question regarding machines and emotions, you responded that I didn't have any and I mistook that to mean that my machines were unaffected by the illusions.

They appear in her favor.  No, they aren't really messed up; it's an illusion. 

For example:
Perception: The machine rings pleasantly, and onscreen are the words: "No machinery detected".

Reality: The machine buzzes and emits a shrill alarm, and the onscreen readings give Chaos away.

...Huh?

Wouldn't Chaos have to be aware of the machine in order to make its results tip in her favor?

The machine is in fact saying she's a machine, but what you'd see would be the machine saying she's organic because your perception is what's altered during an illusion not the machine
