The episode started with me all giddy and excited, but soon I was feeling feels and was quite solemn. Still didnt keep me from feeling all hyped, though! Amazing job!

This post addresses a couple of thoughts on the episode that I agree with:

Things I loved about Weirdmageddon Part 1:
The complete strangeness
WENDY
Bill’s transformation
Dat theme song
Gideon’s Redemption
Great humor
Dipper has come so far as a character and as a person

The Toby joke fell flat very quickly and I felt Gideon's redemption was lacking due to this:

My favorite bit of strangeness was this bubble:

Some of the attempts at emotional moments fell flat, partly because of how rushed it felt
This didn’t really even begin to resolve any unresolved mysteries like Bill’s wheel and what Ford has been up to for all this time
Not enough Stan. Why did he apparently stop being important after Tale of Two Stans?

Assuming this is the final season (since I haven't heard anything about season 3), I feel like this should have been the hypothetical movie mentioned here rather the final episodes before it:

Bill has been made to be the major antagonist. Granted, I could see a whole movie involving Time Baby and time travel... but it just seems more fitting to have Bill be their final opponent. This whole thing seems very much like a series finale. ;__;

There's just so much more story to be told in this town. I hope Alex's decision to redo his original plan wasn't influenced by Disney's handling of the show. (If it's because of the drop in ratings between seasons 1 and 2 I'll be pissed. What did they expect moving it from their main channel to their poorly named toon one?)

Also, I really hate how Mabel got sidelined for the entire episode. As much as I love Dipper and he is the twin who is focused on the mysteries, as well as the target audience's stand-in, the previous season's finale mostly fell on him too*. He had help of course, but he was the main driving force. It just seems so lopsided when they're supposed to be a team.

*I shouldn't be saying this when I haven't watched it in ages Innocent

but from what I do remember Dipper is the one who finds out how to defeat Bill and leads the charge in "Dreamscaperers"
And he saves Mabel from Gideon in his giant mecha (though it ends with the return of the grappling hook)

That said, if Mabel gets to share center stage in the next couple of episodes, I'll retract that.

And that seems very likely with the emphasis that's been put on their being a team:

It still sort of sucks, but if the payoff is worth it I'll change my tune.

Overall, it was still good because it's GF, but Season 1 had a much stronger start of a finale, imo.
