TS, my parents are upper middle class, bu they make me pay for everything when they could buy it themselves.

I have a collection of emoticons stashed in my Bulba user notes, including many from here. If anyone's fond of the lesser-used ones, I could post them all to a blog for reference.

I can't contribute much more than that to the conversation at the moment because I have a lot of homework to do. When I'm done, I'll come back and do some quotes and make some suggestions and whatnot. :B

Still not liking the resolution. Maybe crop it into a square first and then resize it.

I would do it, but all the versions of the GIF I've found have had it zoom in on his face while he squints. Not sure where you got yours where it's just the squinting :V

The image editor I use for removing transparency could probably change it; it supports gifs and whatnot.

I found a website to split it into multiple images and used those to edit the color, then reanimated it. It only has two frames, so it was pretty simple.

Scared is quite a basic emotion. I don't think we should remove the ones for basic emotions unless they have alternatives.

As for me, I'd nominate :fuckyou: (or at least edit the info to make it less overtly meant for passive-aggressiveness),   (   is a better and more universal one IMO), (I don't see it used much and does pretty much the same thing), and (barely ever seen it used).

Also, we should probably reorganize Silly & Odd/Mixed & Sundry. Silly & Odd is for ones that portray an emotion but don't fit into any of the previous categories. Mixed & Sundry is for ones that are silly, but don't really portray a specific emotion.

I'm good for a name change on the first smile one as the name is why I never use it

to me and convey different things as is a more formal congratulations while is more like "We're awesome".

is one I've used a few times and has plenty of purpose, is good for LPs and I just like it :U

As for the comparisons, all I have to say is I remember making for Pyra, and then sprang up as an alternative to that. Not vouching for either, just providing context that might help.

See, the problem with the lighter-colored background is that it looks sort of "lit up".

The problem with the darker-colored background is that it's unreadable. I think we could deal with a possible misinterpretation of the emoticon's meaning, which can be remedied with some indicative alt-text and coding.

Also, given that the emoticon looks at the button marked "EFFORT" then ignores it, I think the meaning will get across regardless of whether the text is light or not. :B
