Re: General Chat! [v8]
It appears, in my opinion, unprofessional and childlike. It makes me think of that old F.H.E. screen on old kids movies. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily, but the font, nearly chalk like, is something that I associate as kid-ish. I've always viewed Google as more sharp and professional.Truthseeker4449 wrote:What's wrong with it in your opinion?Burnin' Bunnies wrote:So, anyone else not liking Google's new logo/search screen? :/

That doesn't really make sense out loud/on screen, but that's basically what I think. :/
I don't mind the new 'G' on the tabs as much as the actual webpage, but it will take a while to get used to.

Re: General Chat! [v8]
I went to my town's 250th anniversary celebrations today, which were actually pretty sweet. There was a parade with marching bands (high school (not ours, we don't have a high school), military, professional, and bagpipes), floats for the local businesses, a line of the different fire engine designs over the years, cannons firing confetti, old army vehicles, horses, motorcycles, and all sorts of other cool stuff. There were helicopter rides, mechanical bulls, local bands, food stands, tours of the town center, an exhibit for local art, and a museum display.
The museum display ended up being really cool. On the bottom floor there were a ton of quilts from various time periods, a 19th century carriage and sleigh, and more. On the top floor there was a lot of old musical instruments, a Victrola with a small record collection, product displays from an early 20th century convenience store, an antique Singer sewing machine, and tons of old books. There were large Bibles and pocket Bibles and pocket Shakespeare and schoolbooks and books of the town history. We also found a book with pictures of the town in it, including one that had our house in the late 19th century. There were a lot of books from the early- to mid-20th century, but the oldest book I found was from 1856. There was also a 46-star flag hanging up.
Then there was a corner of the museum for war stuff. There was a glass case full of World War I stuff, including a pocket Bible, a gas mask, and a uniform. Near that was a table of Civil War stuff. There was a canteen that someone from my town actually carried onto the battlefield in the Civil War, and also some knives and a sword.
Later in the day there was a fireworks show, which they had to start early because it was sprinkling, but it still ended up great.

Re: General Chat! [v8]
Wow. Makes me wonder when my town was founded. Probably less than 30 years ago...

If there's a Wikipedia page for your town, it'll probably tell you there.
