Video Game Music

I think I have finally pinpointed one of the reasons why I love Grant Kirkhope's work (composer of Banjo-Kazooie and cocompser of Yooka-Laylee). Not only is he a musical genius (a study recently found video game music scoring along with Beethoven and other classical geniuses, and Kirkhope was one of the specific composers listed) as I've always insisted, but he uses a lot of percussion. As a percussionist, I can assure you that it is not often that the marimba is the only source of the melody (it usually plays with the flute), but Kirkhope uses the marimba often in his misic, and it is beautiful. He also has strong bass drum, and is not afraid to use a lot of other auxiliary percussion, something I admire in music.
