So come Monday I'm supposed to compete in a SkillsUSA competition. It's a small scale competition that I've agreed to do only because it coincides with a regular school day for me and it's at my school.

The competition has several parts. One is recognition of different parts from each of the different ASE (the Automotive Certification People) recognized areas of repair. I hear it's as simple as writing down the name of the part in a blank and moving on to the next part.

The other part that I know of is showing off your skills. Examples include installing a clutch, using a diagnostic tool to communicate with a car's computer, taking measurements, and using a multimeter. You are graded on how long it took you to do the job, how you did the job, and if you achieved the desired result.

I'm apparently the only Post-Grad who is supposed to be there and am expected to be one of the best people there, if not outperform everyone else. My biggest concern is what I don't know. My teacher has only covered 6 of the 8 units (Brakes, Steering and Suspension, Engine Repair, Heating Ventatliating and Air Conditioning, and Manual Transmissions and Drivetrains). The other two units are Automatic Transmissions and the hardest one of all, Engine Performance (basically figuring out why the engine isn't running right). Also we have not yet finished Manual Transmissions and Drivetrains.

The pressure.... >.<

So over the next few days I'm gonna be watching a lot of videos (I've got a great source for Engine Performance) to try and fill in the gaps.

So the above competition has been rescheduled for next Monday. As for my Robotics Competition, we had a 4-1 win-loss ratio in qualifiers, but got picked by a weak team that got into the next stage by fluke. If we declined, we'd be out of the competition so we kinda had no choice. So we lost in the next round, which was the Quarterfinals, but it was fun. I was also able to pass along a lot of knowledge to a newbie who had some good driving talent.

As a psych student I have a boatload of personality tests and was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking some
