As you may have noticed, Est is my favorite.  also, as far as I can tell, their last name isn't actually Whitewing, though also as far as I can tell, no one in Fire Emblem has a last name, so that's not without precedent

plot twist: their last name is, in fact, Whitewing

...In actuality it's because they're Pegasus Knights, and a brigade of them, though that gets a bit weird because when they were introduced they eventually promoted into Wyvern Knights, which ride steeds that are decidedly not white-winged.

Then they appeared again in Gaiden, where they were Pegasus Knights again () but their promotions kept them on Pegasuses, which were actually one of the sexiest classes in the game because they dealt effective damage to monster units, which were actually pretty common. And effective damage was three times damage dealt in that game, rather than three times weapon mt, so that was pretty good!

tl;dr they kick ass and are adorable

But then in Awakening, Catria's a Dark Flier, meaning her pegasus has black wings, so...

Also, to add to the Awakening weirdness, Catria's the only one who's a Spotpass einherjar.

tl;dr: Whitewings is probably their surprisingly-accurate-ish surname
