Psaro's first form is a clone of Estark's "evolved" form and/or can be linked to AKIRA, at least with the transformation scene in the remake.

Alright, so.
- Rather huge spoilers for Final Fantasy VII in here, and Dragon Quest IV I guess:
- Gwen, Greece's LoZ character, is a Cloud clone because...er, I'm not sure, actually.
The Big Twist™ of Final Fantasy VII is that Cloud Strife is actually a Sephiroth Clone, which basically means he can be twisted to do Sephiroth's will.
Sephiroth resembles Psaro the Manslayer, Dragon Quest IV's main antagonist, quite a bit. They also have decently similar backstories.
Psaro's first form in the final boss battle is pretty much Estark, who you fight earlier in the game. I mean, look at them:

This is Psaro. (The only sprite I could find of him in his Estark-esque form is this gif.)
AKIRA has, to my knowledge, painful/grotesque transformation sequences, which Psaro replicates - if not quite showing pain, then, in the DS remake, showing him firing off his arms and his new appendages growing sickly.
