The books span over a course of many years. I'm pretty sure Percy is turning 16 in the Last Olympian, meaning that all the Heroes of Olympus characters would be in those awkward stages of the teenage years. Plus, I think having so many life threatening situations can make someone grow up quicker that you'd think...
