Honestly, that is a long debated topic that I am neutral on. In the manga (which technically isn't canon, mind you.) Sheik's a guy. I consider Sheik a guy in Ocarina mainly for that reason, but Sheik's definitely a girl in Brawl (you can actually see a bit of a bust.). It really doesn't matter, though. :I

not just there, but in melee's trophy description, and in official guidebooks from back when nintendo power WAS owned by nintendo (when they sold it to future, it went downhill, and now it's dead. :,( )

It says on TV Tropes' "Viewer Gender Confusion" article said that Word of God said Sheik was a chick. Plus, you know, she developed assets.

Also I don't trust Nintendo Power because they derped up twice on Final Fantasy (they printed the last map of the game upside down and also erroneously stated that Marilith was weak to ice).

also, snakes codec conversation in brawl begs to differ, as snake even doubted the amount of magic required to change a person's gender, according the his tech guy octacon, (I think that's how it was spelled)

She in that sentence was referring to the persona of Sheik. Zelda didn't teach Link the songs in Ocarina of Time, Sheik did.

I have no idea how Miyamoto figures into this, or how Steven Spielberg ties into this, but Eiji Aonuma stated that "players preferred female characters that were more independent, like Sheik and Tetra", thus pretty much saying Sheik is a dude.

Besides, no matter what they said then, Sheik now has more obvious female traits. So, uh.

that was because they wanted shiek in twillight princess as a girl, but that got ditched yet it transferred to ssbb
